People pay what Facebook asks of them, i.e. nothing except ads. It was on those grounds people accepted as their social network. By contributing my content to Facebook I help make it a place for my friends to come to often and for Facebook

If you get traction and press attention particularly, then doors and options open up to you. Also if you have a chance to speak at a conference you get a lot of respect, often from people who didn't know who you were previously. However, ge

you can only compare the cost in a meaningful way if you know the product features are similar, otherwise it's a apples and oranges comparison.

Agreed and it's good that they do that since I use their graphics and Wifi drivers on my Ubuntu Laptop. My point was if they are truly committed to open source they would do this too, they are after all a hardware company and should compete

Not only should they fix it, they should open source the code, so AMD can contribute. Intel often makes noises about open source, so they should put their money where there mouth is.

Yes I know. But if you are running a game on a PC with 8GB of memory and the game can only use 4GB of that (actually 2.7GB in windows), it's not really taking advantage of it, is it? Also consumer versions of 32bit Windows don't support PAE

You need it to take advantage of 4GB+ of memory really - so that's most systems you see in shops already. 64bit took off in Enterprise systems (IBM/Sun/SGI etc.) where it was common to have 4GB+ of memory years ago. The Desktop is next. 64b

I'd hold that line if the person calling were important to me, i.e. they were the VC, or press or the president. If they were selling me something I wouldn't wait.
