I think that's exactly the problem though. With Comp Sci and Academia people from top to bottom, you don't get enough people that care about customer service or business issues.

I find it hard to believe they offered to buy her a new place and stuff before this story blew up, that just seems like bad business. It seems like it would easily fix the PR nightmare if they sent all of their evidence of these offers to t

That's what I was thinking, they didn't understand the gravity of this case because I imagine at AirBnB volume, this must happen at least once a day somewhere. That said, from a customer support point of view, you never know which negative

If someone comes from Craigslist, you can at least Google for their name, try to find a Facebook page, etc... BEFORE they enter your house. At best, the way it is for the author, she could have done some checking, but at that point the fre

That was my first thought, that these "computer analysts" of the 70s were glorified secretaries running punch cards through a system. It seems like I would have remembered or known a few more older female computer scientists if they were r

+1's are linked to individual Google accounts, it's probably more effective to ban the actual accounts. Also for those who said it's bot nets, typically the way these things work is the people doing the "plussing" get paid a very small cut

To be fair Jeb Bush hasn't been president, and there are relatively few dynasties in the US (there's also the Kennedy's, the Gore's, the Paul's, but most don't make it to be President)

The reversing of the scrolling direction is certainly going to take a lot of getting used to. The new way feels semi-natural with the track pad, but with a mouse wheel not so much.

Don't many companies pay nothing? IE if my company earns $100k and I pay out $100k in salaries and overhead, there is nothing left to tax as all my expenses were deductible? Google may pay 2.4% but presumably the money is getting taxed at
