I always wonder why sometimes the system finds faces and other elements in essentially untextured / homogeneous parts of images. Wouldn't there be some sort of "data term" in the energy functional that would suppress the

I don't understand your point. Their democratic mandate is to say no to Trioka terms. Great. That's what they did and it resulted in the situation we have now. If they continue down the path of their mandate it will result in Gree

What is actually happening here is that Tsipras is simply trying to save face. Attempting to get the Troika (EU, IMF, ECB) to bend in the negotiations was a suicide commando in the first place. Now he realizes that his plan failed and is tr

Yes, that's a very good picture of things. Now the dependency vs redundancy issue comes in when two clusters are made modules. If they are mostly separated but still have some connections to each other the question is what to do with

The article makes some very important points and it's certainly worth a read for every programmer. What the article misses to address explicitly however is that the whole redundancy vs. dependency conflict is caused by modularization.

Even simpler: Just use a const variable instead of a constant literal in the caller code: const bool useWayA = true; int result = foo(a, b, useWayA); instead of int result = foo(a, b, true);

You have some good points here but keep in mind that some of the things you mention (health care, education, etc..) are very US-centric and far less of an issue in other places such as Europe.

I wonder what would happen if you train an RNN like described with, say, the scores of all of Mozart's Chamber Music and then let it generate new music from the learned pieces. How would it sound? Would it figure out beat? Chords? Harm
