VS Code - how much of this can you NOT do with VS COde. For instance, even /rename doesn't work in VS Code. I guess I can try all the recommended commands, but I'm skeptical. Or, conversely, is best practice just to use Claud

For weather data and amazing visualizations see https://weatherspark.com/ Check out their compare feature. Brilliant. Eg: Seattle vs London https://weatherspark.com/compare/y/913~45062/Compari

What a great way to put it in perspective, and shocking how low per query. I expanded your comparison list (with Chat GPT). Pretty interesting. Activity | Watts Used (1 hr) -------------------------------------

I like it! I do the steps involved in this occasionally, manually. It’s not hard but this makes it nice. Not sure I’ll use it since it is one more thing to install and remember, but the author had an itch and scratched it. Well done.

I just tried to switch a simple quick site from bootstrap to tailwind and backed out. It seemed like I had to build my base template from scratch whereas with bootstrap they give it to me for free. With tailwind, is there an easy way to sta

This is so true! I just programmed an Arduino for a diy attic fan controller. Was it hard? Not really. Was it a bigger pain in the butt than programming for home assistant? Oh gosh yes. And quite limited in comparison. It really made me app

I'd like to plug Ubiquiti also. I'm not a networking guy and I just want my network to work. I don't want to worry about it or try to guess am I having problems due to Comcast or my home network setup. Switching to Ubiquiti,

Array - What's the use case here? (And I'm not being snarky or even critical.) My usage is generally lists for small stuff where I don't care about performance, and pandas/numpy for analysis. So maybe array is either if

Has anyone actually done this? I looked into it briefly, came away thinking it was going to be non-trivial to get working (or might have downstream bugs), and gave it up as not worth it. But I could have been completely wrong. Anyone have r

I think this is such a clever use of capitalism for positive purpose. I’ve worked with Eco-Soap Bank ( https://ecosoapbank.org/ ) mentioned in the article. So great.

So maybe that's the idea for my projects that I make available to others. Be a bit more deliberate with branches, allow them to be junky, and clean up when I merge to master. That seems like the best of both worlds with minimal effort.

I'm also a solo developer and use git in a much less sophisticated fashion. I tend to use it as, "freeze my code here, so in case I f something up, I can get back to a moderately clean state." It's kind like a snapshot

My two cents- subtrees were SO much harder for my use case. Rename a directory? Ugh. Subtree split? Commit history? Just a mess. I switched back to sub modules and it’s such a relief.

I love the idea. Keep it up. Here is a nitpick - I tried to find a way to send it to you privately, since it is trivial, but I couldn't find a link or your email anywhere. 1) Remove your photos - this feels like a serious site and you

How do people in general test their https during development? I've never done it but will for my current project, but am dreading it. I was thinking of Docker or Vagrant. Or maybe this localdots. This must be a solved problem. How do

I'd say the premise a bit differently: matplotlib is tricky to learn but once you figure out how it works it's not bad. I just went through this process myself ( http://kachess.k2company.com ) and this outline would have

There is a semi-valid reason similar, but I think different, from his first point. Holding on to data provides an option to potential downstream gains. (ie: holding data has an "option value"). Will it be valuable? Who knows? Mayb

For me it's not about speed at all. I've used ack and loved it because it automatically ignores everything I want ignored (with a .ackrc file). I just tried ripgrep and like it even more because it automatically follows .gitignor

[aside] @burtonator - what do you use for your pdf rendering? pdf.js? When I used electron a while ago it didn't natively support PDFs so you needed to roll your own with pdf.js. And the UI code to get full-featured PDF support (like a

ImageMagick requires Ghostscript to handle pdfs. So you need both. Except on OSX, where you can use SIPS. But on Windows, you're stuck with IM/GS.

This particular solution may not be solving the problem I need, but I'd love to see a really good version of PDF.js running in electron for existing electron apps. Use case: You're building an electron app. It needs to view pdfs.
