Scotland has one of the biggest gas fields in Europe, why should it rely on ugly and unreliable Wind turbines? Esp Global Warming probably makes Scotland's climate more comfortable, and its proximity to Greenland means sea levels might

Its not just architecture. People dress much more casually as well, we've all seen the pictures of the plumbers in 3 piece suits but even for office professionals jeans and tshirts are normal now. I think people stop trying to impress

Its already like this. My first job in the 90s I wrote our own linked list classes, a logging framework and a persistence layer. Now it feels like I write css and yaml all day.

Well they didn't change their mind. :) I think providing feedback is work which also requires coordination from more than one people, so is easy to avoid.

That is what it should be. From what I've seen most architects aren't like this, they play with whatever is cool then move on to the next company while the rest of us try to untangle the mess.

This is seemed pretty standard practice now, small companies, big companies, recruiters, FAANG. Actually Amazon for me was the best - I deliberately followed up a week later and they actively apologized and provided some feedback.

To me the interesting smoking related issue is obesity & related problems. Most of the world has all put a lot of weight on in the last few decades. Is it a coincidence that is while we've given up smoking? Cigarettes actively redu

Location makes a big difference too. I've always lived in big cities in areas with lots of expats and transient people. Its very easy to make friends. In suburbs its tougher, especially in areas where people grew up still know neighbor

TDD in theory sounds great. What I've seen is thousands and thousands of tests, inconsistently written by dozens of different developers over the years. Testing silly little trivial things that makes the CI pipeline 10+ minutes. A leas

Ooof, I think most devs can modify an existing code base in a few days. To learn all the idiomatic styles, tradeoffs of the major libraries and different build systems take months, maybe years IMHO.
