I think you also have to ask are the regulators really finding real crimes or prosecuting grey areas that will win lots of money out of politically unpopular companies. New York makes a lot of money out of these fines which they can use for

Why is America even involved? Its Mexican branches of a British/Asian bank. Why do US regulators have to get their fingers in everything.

I was laid off 7 years ago. I wasn't a great employee. It gave me a kick in my pants that eventually made me a much better employee. So I think there is some truth that many laid off people were the lower end of performance, but it als

Steve Blank has talked about this for decades. A startup is about validating you have a product that customers want. You want to connect with customers and prove you have a market before scaling. https://steveblank.com/tag&#

True but with layoffs the company can choose the people to remove, with broad pay cuts they likely lose their best staff.

I live in New Jersey where every little town has its own government, its own taxes, its own police force, its own school system. Its super inefficient and expensive, and heterogeneous. American systems like this are the main driver for ineq

I wish I could get a 2G phone. 3G I'd settle for. All I want is email, Maps, Uber and a Camera. Everything else is just addicting time wasting behavior. I love when my plan runs out of fast data and puts me on that throttled level.

I work on a project that uses a proprietary language. Its very good but its miserable to be the only place where its used. Tools are sloppy and old, no external documentation or videos, can't hire anyone who knows it, and the people on

Agreed the inequality is a problem. However making people who serve wealthy people the highest paid is a bad solution.

I disagree, I prefer the service in EU - I like the bare minimum. I hate in the US when they take your order as soon as you arrive, they check every 5 minutes if you're OK then whip away your plates as soon as you finish the last mouth

Toyota RAV4 ICE weighs 3450 lbs, the RAV4 Prime weighs 4,250 lbs., and a Tesla Model Y long range is 4,416 lbs. Maybe ICE is best for the environment. :)

Hydrogen I think has a few good advantages over batteries. Storage is cheaper and faster. Quick charging would be good for buses, trucks and trains. The cheap storage is good for things like ships. Also long term storage for the winter - yo

RAV4 Prime is awesome and huge wait list. PHEV is a great solution, it doesn't require these huge heavy batteries.

Lots of us have been there. I never had the thankless job but I was laid off then really struggled in a new role. I'm still not over it but when you can deliver some code again you regain confidence with every Jira.

We used to go out for drinks after work every week. Now lots of people WFH so people aren't around. The other thing is lots of the young people in the team now dont drink, which is a big change for me.
