Bitcoin core has a consensus mechanism and it is a very good one. What gets into the code is only that which has near unanimous agreement. which means proposals are discussed and altered and improved until everyone is happy. Believe it or

We know who satoshi is. We can't prove it, of course and we respect him enough to leave him be in peace, given what he has done (and the fact that the current team is stronger than him.) He doesn't like the attention he gets eve

Every investment I've ever bought has gone down within 6 months of the time I bought it. Unless you perfectly time a bottom that's what's gonna happen. The question is where it is in 6 years, not 6 months. Plus, for a hedge

You invoked morality. The moral calculus is pretty clear to me: I’ll take the gay loving advancer of technology over governments stealing money to use it to blow up people any day. Apple has the moral high ground, and that ground is highe

I think the trick is that you "get" that %7 as an account credit, but since you're never going to be able to withdraw the money... these days all a ponzi needs to do is have enough shill accounts claiming that they were able

Please define "insane"? Those who oppose PoW and think it uses "too much" energy never give a reason. Seems to be based in basic "we should all be poor hunter gatherers" marxism to me. Mining is profitable, b

Worth noting that the vast majority of bitcoin is mined from hydroelectric power. Ironically for the ether pumpers on this thread, the primary crypto currency that is powered by burning coal and oil is ethereum.

Ethereum is going to PoS as a mechanism to reduce liquidity and increase the coins price. Nothing more. The entire history of ethereum is full of a lot of... less than ideal decisions like this.

IF it were insanely expensive, nobody would mine. That you don't value the results, doesn't change the economic value of the activity you don't like.

The max block size for bitcoin went from 1mb to 4mb in August of 2017. The ONLY reason it took so long is that the courtesy signaling that core put in for miners was used as a veto as part of this anti-bitcoin effort to try and increase ce

You don't give any support for your initial thesis, nor does the post you're responding to. Make a technical or economic argument. Meanwhile: http://www.truthcoin.info/blog/pow-cheapest/

Rick and Morty has already lost its appeal to me, because the person who recommended it, and so many of the fans are assholes who think that Rick is a person to emulate and justifies their assholishness.

Silicon Valley is not dominant now. It is merely perceived as dominant by a cult of silicon valley, which exists primarily in the heads of people who live in SV.

IF your goal is to work for google, facebook, Amazon or Microsoft, then yes, Google is a great place to be. But if your goal is to work for next decades google, Apple, etc, then no, Google is not the place to be. Start working on Bitcoin.

Things to consider: 1. Create lots of accounts, allocate money to yourself. 2. How do you hold people accountable in a distributed trustless manner? 3. Once you have centralized identity or accountability, then there is really no use to doi
