If this is a web based app (rather than a local app based on web technologies, like webos or windows phone), you should move as much of the processing server side as possible. Aim to not use a client side framework at all, if you can get aw

Since the 90s ?? That's very impressive if true. I remember reading about a proposition to do this for cars years ago, before any talk of self driving vehicles. A car would lock in behind a professional driver vehicle such as a truck

It's sort of like test driven vacuuming ;) I love the comparison to codebases. I just wish I could commit the perfect tidy version of the room to a git repo and then reset to that every night. :)

I measure 1 cup rice to 2 cups water (often boiling, from the kettle), check it every now and then, and when it's got "holes" - gaps where water has bubbled and evaporated - I turn off the heat underneath. I never add salt. I

My biggest gripe with the dishwasher is that things come out of it wet and need drying by hand. Modern dishwashers don't have a drying element anymore. However, just today I read here on HN that plastic items don't dry as well as

This is a great tip, thanks! Of course, it only reduces my stock sorting load by 25%, can't force the wife and two girls to wear only grey socks for the rest of their lives :)

I've heard people sing the praises of rice cookers before and I just don't get it. I cook rice in a pot and it takes barely any effort. The most time consuming steps are measuring out rice and cleaning the pot afterwards, and you

It actually was that I was thinking of. And now I feel slightly silly for not only getting a key detail wrong but also using a comic as a source of facts. I'm sure Randall Munroe did his research but still.
