I love ChatGPT for simple tasks. It is currently wreaking havoc on some communities tho. Including one I created on reddit. https://www.reddit.com/r/pinescript/comments/1029r7p/please_... People have t

Reddit is exhausting. One big feedback loop. People will say anything to get good karma or avoid saying certain things to avoid being down voted. If there is even just a slight majority in the way the group thinks, it will soon become th

I think one of the most insightful things I've learned in life is that books, movies, articles, etc. have warped my perception of the "elites." When you split hairs, there is certainly a difference in skill/knowledge _b

Oh no for sure. I thought your comment was really insightful (as is this one!). Just wanted to be sociable while the topic was on something I enjoyed! I think a healthy blend of "fiction for reality" is best. Too little makes l

That's wild to me... but I guess if it all checks out legally. I think its only blows my mind because of how hard Disney protects against that sort of thing. I guess they just can't fight it anymore tho.

Oh yea. I mean, I was on tech forums chatting as a 13 year old and looking back, I _know_ so many people realized my questions were just ridiculous or dumb lol. I'm just wondering if that must be where the this is coming from. As an e

I haven't read the book, so I can't comment on that... but this comment resonates with me. I think its similar to how people will completely write off a book/movie/person for _one_ thing. I get some things have more wei

Oh I don't doubt that. I'm referencing the fact that some subs will run a bot that checks your post history and will ban you if you have previously posted in a sub they don't agree with or like. I've personally been &qu

That makes sense. I was looking for an instance and they listed their server specs. They were very small servers. Would they be susceptible to simple DDOS?

I just tried and got a message that "this is currently not possible" It took me here: https://joinmastodon.org/servers Where it seems the majority of servers are overtly political and require an "application.

I feel like if they did that, the service would be 100x more viable… but would lose its claim to total decentralization. Idk, good luck to anyone that does a social media site cause that seems like a hard problem to solve.

I think thing the biggest threat to mastodon will be the “mods” and “admins.” It’s a matter of when, not if there will be drama and it’ll be interesting to see how that is handled. A lot of subreddits went so far as to make a bot that will

I want to agree… but I’ve seen some truly insane stuff coming out of tik tok. Maybe it just seems worse because these people are “face to face” with us in most cases, vs Twitter it’s just “some crazy writing 120 characters.”
