I would suggest that outside of London the salaries are massively different. Though £15k is still almost-criminally low regardless of where you are. I'd expect someone with 3 years web dev experience to be anywhere from mid-20's to mid-30's

£42k after 3 years? Where are you working - London? That makes rather a large difference, as I'd be shocked if someone was getting that after 3 years for web dev here in Manchester.

Perhaps he believed that platitudes wouldn't have helped, but that giving the permission was enough (as it so obviously was for this person). I couldn't imagine it was a particularly easy request to receive and he could have just ignored it

Agreed. I'm a big Google Reader user, and will inevitably be trying out Feedly, but just haven't had the chance yet. Judging by the amount of people I've spoken too over the last few days, there's a whole lot more than 500,000 of us. I'd lo

Agreed. I'm finding the iOS version of iA Writer doesn't like it when I modify the file elsewhere - I have to manually switch files for it to detect the change.

My concern is simply that trying to be the de-facto app means you'll never really get the traction you need to become successful. I hate to invoke Facebook here, but even they started with a very limited market. Once there was enough demand

I worry that you're trying to be everything to everyone. Just because your backend can handle anything type of "shout", have you considered effectively turning it into a white label, and creating dedicated "sport" brand, etc. If you manage

I recently met, and had the opportunity to speak to, an old family friend who has been blind for many years. He's had several guide dogs, and I was hearing for the first time what they actually do (they're far more incredible than I had i

Absolutely this. I had an XDA II, then an XDA Mini S pretty much from launch (rebranded HTC phones on O2-UK), but as a student simply couldn't afford the data plans to go with them. The iPhone (and really, the iPhone 3G for me) is when pric

I thought that statement taken out of context sounded a bit arrogant (though perhaps well deserved!). However, when read in context it really didn't come across like that at all. Perhaps a title change in this case wouldn't be all that bad.

Is there a way to search for groups you may be interested in joining... other than guessing the URL? Or is that somewhat missing the point?

Obviously if you're working with massive datasets or many many VM's this may not be true, but everyone I know who has 16GB RAM has claimed that it's more than enough. I've got 8GB, and haven't any complaints. I even know people with 32GB wh

The worst are when you spot a bug that means the functionality should never have worked in the first place, yet somehow has been working fine in production for years. I really rather hate those ones.
