That's more like gitk, not git gui. On ubuntu it's a separate install from the main git, https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/bionic/+package/git-gui Try `apt install git-gui`, or similar.

I always tell people the `-m` flag of `git commit` is only ever to be used in scripts. Let git open an editor and write your multi-line message there. Look at the comments telling you which files have been changed. Even better than using `g

If you need to reduce the size of a screenshot it's often better to keep it as a PNG and reduce the number of colors. 256 colors nearly always carries all the information needed without blurring the edges or the text. Often 128 or 64 i

If Apple decides to make EU phones with USB-C and non-EU phones with the old non-standard connector e.g. for the US and China markets, they could sell them in the UK. So it's not really a case of what the UK wants.

git couldn't take .gitignore into account when deciding to look at .gitignore, even if it wanted to, because it's not read .gitignore yet. It's like "Is 'No' the answer to this question?"

If someone else commits a .gitignore in your repository, .gitignore is in your repository and will stay there. .gitignore is only used in deciding if an untracked file should be added. It makes no difference to existing files.

This is certainly true, but what could the corn farmers do instead that would use less water? In Europe they pay farmers to look after land and specifically not grow crops on it. Maybe something like that is needed in California.
