I'm not a beginner (12k cards, 10 years). What works for me personally: 1) test word -> meaning, not word -> word in other language 2) I don't test reverse most of the time, unless I really want to remember how to say someth

Rust is also a video game, which causes confusion to this day. Go is a very common word. As a result people end up using rustlang and golang in searches, defeating the point of having a catchy name in the first place.

I have definitely wasted lots of time creating and reviewing cards for words that I never see again (the long tail) or don't strictly need to know. But the feeling of coming across a word that you learned and -knowing- it is amazing. I

My deck has 10,000 hand-made cards and I know for sure they stick in my brain easier than cards from a premade deck that I have no connection with. I suspect it depends how you make the deck. I intentionally use sentences and images that I

Language is really the ideal use case, you cannot stop and look up words every few seconds when talking to someone. And doing it while reading or watching TV spoils the enjoyment somewhat. You need to frontload a ton of data into your mind

I'm a big fan of making lots of cards, like you say you can just hit Easy and send them into next year, or conversely if you keep forgetting them and they're using up lots of time, just suspend or delete them. When I couldn't

Go Go Curry is Kanazawa-style (thick almost like gravy, served over the rice with cabbage, on a metal bowl). It's very popular and lots of places do that style. If you like it I also recommend Champion Curry and Joto Curry. I agree the

Two different types of curry. The article/image are about Indian restaurants in Japan, which tend to have a large naan and a few small metal bowls of curry. The one you're talking about is usually known as 'curry rice' (

Walking 1 hour round trip to work was the sweet spot for me. Exercise, easy to go to the gym either side, listened to podcasts, had a mental transition to and from work, and walking is fine in basically any weather or season. Now I work fro

I don't think we disagree. The video says the translation will be "readable" but needs several days of an experienced editor passing over it. That's an amazing result, but again, it's not as good as a human yet. It&

Idiomatic translation of text matching a human professional (e.g. free of errors for legal terms, interesting and natural for fiction) is unlikely to be achieved until we have AGI. So no.

This may finally be a solution for scraping wikipedia and turning it into structured data. (Or do we even need structured data in the post-AI age?) Mediawiki is notorious for being hard to parse: * https://github.com/spencer
