White folks = cows isn't a fair comparison, there is a strong racist history of comparing black people to monkeys/gorillas that increases the social harm.

Intent WAS a factor here. There was no intent to consider anyone other than white people when the model was trained.

The racism comes from the fact non-white people were not properly considered when the model was developed and trained. This comes up time and time again in AI, ranging from face ID that only works on white people, to porn classifiers that a

Phoenix/LiveView must be really good if people are learning not one but two niche languages (Elixir and Erlang) just to use it. I wonder if the framework is particularly tied to Elixir or if it could be done in a more popular languag

If you like that you should check out a Showa Museum (Showa-kan) as the whole place will have that aesthetic. Or a real dagashiya if you can find one!

The joy of dagashi is its playfulness, whether that be the toys or prizes they come with, the chance to win a second free snack, the colourful designs, their interactiveness and the imitation of other foods. Commenting on the taste is kind

I am inclined to agree with you, e.g. the number of very long-running family businesses in Japan, traditional arts being kept alive, etc. otoh unless you've lived in Japan for a very long time it's pretty hard to tell what is sinc

Wow, thanks for that. So much to unpack here! 1) 200 people with diarrhea and vomiting. Can't imagine how the plane smelled. 2) JAL's catering manager committed suicide after hearing about this. 3) If the pilots had eaten the food

The Asian airlines I've used (JAL, ANA, Singapore, AirAsia) have been pretty damn good. It's hard to mess up curry and rice; you get salad, side dishes, bread, ice cream and alcohol. Many of the dishes are designed by famous chefs

For me it's a better product than carrying two different items. If I have to take a tablet I have to bring a bag/case to carry it, and then unzip all that to pull out the tablet every time I want to use it (e.g. video, comics, lar

Comics are actually changing to suit phones rather than the opposite! Newer web comics show one panel at a time in a long vertical strip. And tablets are still a thing, you can just use them for comics instead of spending $1800 on a phone.

In our code at work we have constants like HOUR=3600 and RESTART_TIME_SECS = 6 * HOUR. It makes sense to me. If it doesn't for you, feel free to use something else I guess.

I apologised in another comment and admit it is not universally true, as many people have pointed out. However I have repeatedly tried to get hotels to price match; they don't, and they never mentioned a loyalty scheme. That is my pers

Or maybe booking.com is actually a better experience for most people than the legacy hotel sites. It's more streamlined, it's cheaper, you don't have to sign up etc. If you think I'm an astroturfer look at my comment his
