Totally agree. And many bigger projects get canned or put on hold. Potentially making up room for smaller projects to implement a more compact product from a start up ( to get some quick wins ).

Back in the day when everything was written in C/C++ it wasn’t unusual that seemingly well tested software had careless memcpy or sprintf left in the error/log execution path that then exposed that system to remote code execution.

For meta data, exiftool is handy for removing metadata[0]. $ exiftool -all= foo.jpg And even better, save image first as .bmp or other format that doesn’t support metadata. Then reload and convert to jpeg, and run the exiftool on this image

It occurred to me that this is maybe just marginally more unreadable than a Hello world for Android or iOS or other desktops after all the boilerplate code and resources has been added. And it still is easier to compile.
