It doesn't sound like they scour your comment history, just if pg recognizes you from an intelligent hn conversation or two it can only help you.

Just keep coding, it'll work out. Your resume is all about experience. Some people care very much about what companies you work for, but as you're getting started, what projects you work on is the best you have. Build a simple product and l

Solid! I use Prowl on the iPhone for push stuff. I get around paying for SMS with Google Voice and Prowl. Will definitely check Urban Airship out.

My body sure agrees on avoiding dairy. I suppose I'm mildly lactose intolerant, but once I stopped eating dairy I started feeling a lot better. Less gas if nothing else. Anecdotal for sure but most of the people I know who take diet serious

If it's like Chrome, which I hope it is, it's completely transparent. Your browser session is never interrupted, and in fact no update alerts are ever shown. Just once in a while when you start Firefox it's the new version that it installed

Great point. I love the auto-update feature on Chrome but I share the same fear as you if Adobe was to start doing it. Only software companies with mature software, good release management and clear product vision should go down this road.

This is excellent, assuming it works like Chrome. The updates are silently downloaded in the background, and applied the next time you restart the browser. This behavior can be disabled fully. It doesn't interrupt your work at all, never ev

Between Google Sync (over the air email/contact/calendar sync ActiveSync), Pandora and Rdio (streaming music services), and the App Store updates, I almost never sync to iTunes. I'm not sure how it would be if I couldn't as every so often

The 'paradox' that is presented leads back to the right conclusion: there is no way to inform which envelope is better so just pick one at random. These are non-causal random events, and the probability is always 50/50. There is a twist to

I think it'd be an oversight to not stay on top of the new technologies that scale better. A document store fits a lot of problems much better than doing everything in Postgres, and offers easier maintenance and replication. And can offer a

It's shocking to me how few women there are in SF. The east coast is crawling with good looking, single young women. Most of them are really nice normal women with family oriented goals. Then NYC is full of wild girls that like to dress up,

Hear hear. I do suspect no seasons makes some of the LA natives a bit wacky. It's good character building to deal with shitty weather for a while. But CA has all the advantages here. The day-to-day weather is consistent and mild, and there

CouchDB is really fun. The rules are very tight, but consistent, and it quickly appears to be a shotgun to cause a lot of damage with. Especially with good with Javascript on the client side. There is a native Javascript driver and the prot

Another point with the N1 end is that it is the only phone running Android 2.2 (without hacked roms). This means that there are no phones a customer can buy to get Android 2.2 now. Android is a great platform and I've been seeing more and

What happened to "all PR is good PR"? I don't have real numbers, but 3 weeks into the launch, more than 2 million phones have been sold. How many have been returned? Versus how many people that want one don't have one yet? What's the new An

Same here. "Ooh is that the new iPhone? Do you have antenna problems?" I say that while I do notice the affect, i've dropped no calls in my apartment with the new model, vs 70% dropped rate on my 3G.

Fring sucks. It shows a lot of promise but its buggy as hell and it killed my battery. I hope it's not representative of other background VOIP apps. Next question: where is the official Skype iOS4 app?

No. I'm not involved with Google or Chrome but I follow a few tickets. 4, 5, and 6 are just milestones for project planning. Version 6 is about feature parity across platforms. They've been cranking on code quite intensely and therefore hit
