This is what I thought. Go is primarily targeted at server-side applications, which are almost exclusively running on 64bit hardware/OS. Memory is so cheap now that it's silly not to have more than 16GB plugged in the chasis. Then I realize

Now we have /delta to get proper diffs, we only need the Events API to make awesome Dropbox-based apps. Currently there is no way for Dropbox to notify your app on a remote server about updates in a user's Dropbox folder. You have to poll.

Can't we just get rid of physical SIM cards all together and just make the auth data easily loadable into mobile phones like SSL certificate or SSH private keys? Making them smaller seems heading the wrong way. Remind me of http://news.yco

I think you are confusing the “meta-programming” and “run-time optimization” as described by the original article. The JIT optimization you mentioned is actually his point 3, while I was addressing his point 2, “meta-programing” during comp

Applying meta-programming techniques to address those issues is just way too overkill. Pre-computing difficult-to-compute constants should happen during coding time, not compile time, unless you are writing an academic paper about meta-prog

Don't get me started on that one. That rumor is quoted from The Epoch Times, a U.S.-based “newspaper” with a very clear political agenda. This isn't a trustworthy source to quote from if you know even a tiny bit about this agency's motivati

TL;DR: 1. Better memory aliasing to use SIMD instructions. But you have to trade in pointer arithmetic for those cases. Only useful for number-crunching and GPU-like workload AFAIK. 2. Pre-compute time-consuming constants during compile tim
