I don’t feel like I have the luxury of a NY’s resolution but I have a lot of change coming. I’m both excited and wary of next year. I’m moving countries, to a more expensive city (Sydney), a bit too old to break into a new network. Fair cha

I don’t want a car. I’d happily share one. Uber where I live (Johannesburg) has kinda forced conversation and I always feel the need to tip. But honestly the drivers here are dangerous, speed around, ride their clutch, go through orange lig

Great work. A few comments remind me of the philosopher and Rubyist, _why: “when you don't create things, you become defined by your tastes rather than ability. your tastes only narrow & exclude people. so create.”

Similar here. Got an A500 and am emigrating, so I need to sell or keep or do something with it. Will test the disks so I know what I have. I think the Amstrad CPC-464 I had, had even more core memories. But this thing was a beast in its day

I’ve found learning harder as I age. I can still do it, but I don’t think we’re as elastic as we are at 5, or 18. I’m guessing but I think it’s both internal changes and the sheer product of an expanded mental landscape. We have more to con

Easier from the perspective of getting a visa. You won the lottery is what I said. I live in a country where we seem to work hard to keep people from neighbouring countries out. It does nothing for our competitiveness, just allows the cur

You don’t become more competitive by creating limits. China limits what people can read, say or do. US limits movement. It became great through free movement of people and reinvention of society, and creating any limits means you skew the o

Class and prestige is exactly what Buffett is not about. He does not care at all about opinions of his website. He cares only if the money goes up and credibility is maintained. Any focus on the site would be a waste of money, unless you ca

We’re emigrating soon, to Sydney Australia. I’m 49, she’s 45. I love the friends we have here and am going to miss them hugely. I’ve found friends through work, university, cycling, kids. I’ll need to ramp this up and be proactive because i

I’d guess the end state is: tablet, stylus and convert scrawls into print-worthy output. Many pitfalls along the way I’m sure but nothing will beat just drawing what you mean.

I’ve been thinking for a couple minutes and don’t know of a well-known CEO who fits your claim. For it to be true, more than 50% would have to be. Or do you mean CEO of lots of little companies, therefore more likely? Either way, those CEO’

Apple’s done extremely well by timing it perfectly, not by being too early. Never mind early or spot on, it’s been pretty late for a lot of stuff, compared to Android. I still remember my only windows phone. Horrible thing. Had a Start menu

The photos of the painting on the internet aren’t original works either. This system is learning from everyone taking pictures. If you paid a very good artist to paint that painting, they’d work from a picture. No artist emerges fully forme

I don’t pay a lot of attention but I do perceive some efforts to get karma. Eg lots of posting articles, more jostling in comments than is necessary. Wherever there is a measure, some people will optimise for it. We’re human.
