I've found that tech companies have harder interview loops for infosec than in software engineering. For software engineering, know your college algorithms and you'll have a decent shot. For infosec, the hiring bar is entirely ran

Decent paying, yes, but very rare compared to standard software engineering jobs. A lot are in defense. Top companies have a few on hire but unless you're the best of the best, it's tough to match the salary you can get as a stand

I looked into the hemp based extract a while back and the conclusion I drew was that it was up for debate whether or not it was legal. Proponents cited a bunch of laws regarding industrial hemp while the DEA seemed to have another position

I really love my QNAP device, but the software stack is so amazingly complex it sort of scares me how many vulnerabilities might be lurking. Hopefully the QNAP security team is full of decent folks. For reference, I have a QNAP j3455 device

This service appears to do nothing else aside from automatically generating a resignation letter. Did I miss a value-add here? This just seems like a media campaign instead of anything useful.

I think my original statement came off a bit harsh. For more context, I'm a C programmer who managed to avoid C++ and templating for...too long. Rust just has a lot of new (to me) ideas that will probably take a bit longer for me to gr

How's the O'Reilly book so far? I made it through the second edition of the rust book but found it a bit lacking as a novice. I think a second time through the Rust book after writing a few programs will be really useful, but I wo

Defense has career progressions? Is this for management? From what I've seen engineers are treated like cattle and hired and fired for the whims of every project.

Employers can afford to be ageist when they can employ from a virtually unlimited international market. But of course the "talent isn't just there" and we need more H1Bs.

FYI the average defense contractor engineer isn't paid nearly that much (as compared to true private industry) and puts in quite a bit of free OT. Senior/PM salaries may get that high in DC but I don't think that is anywhere
