The gymnastics part is correct. You have to convince the compiler the code you are producing is correct, even if it may be correct already. However, this makes your code way more unlikely to crash or be incorrect. The "lot of abstracti

This is not exactly the point the article talks about, but it's irked me for quite some time. When you see the documentation for a library in a dynamic language, it looks the same as if the language was static: the class of all the arg

Singularity stuff just needs an AI that is human-level and can improve itself. Then again, the self-improving feedback loop might stop for reasons unknown now.

I really don't know how it has such good value, did they sell it at a loss? The only problem I've found on it is its lack of a gyroscope, and subsequent lack of ability to use the Cardboard.

I used Hy in a Django project to define the URLs. I was using some functions that added input checking, and I wanted to parse that and generate Javascript functions that would check the input in the client. Hy takes less effort to parse tha

The question is, what will you do different to succeed where they failed? Because otherwise, you're just gonna fail like they did.

A nice insight at the end of the article that I'd never realized (it might be obvious to you). >as long as you browse the web, you keep coming back to google.com to navigate efficiently. This is why Google wants you to spend time in

Nice article. I had a good time. Here are some pearls from it: > Nothing useful is ever created at a hackathon. > sometimes “entrepreneur” means “runs a successful company” and sometimes it means “more ideas than money.” > Eddie [.

Are users going to pay for decentralized Reddit? I'm not sure they will care much about the possibility of the company's interests being against them, especially the majority of users who don't speak much of politics.

Don't lentils contain too many carbs for keto? One friend of mine started doing it a few months ago, he has lost a lot of weight. He eats less than 25g of carbs a day, and lentil servings usually surpass that.

I guess the verbosity of the method's name is actually good in this case? Since it makes the function so much clearer. I am never sure how much to abbreviate a name, but I guess if it's not going to be used much it can be long wit

Please, as peonicles says, do share what these failure patterns are. I am kinda curious, as I thought the Android API is pretty good, and makes you make applications that don't block GUI by default.

You still have a buffer or size X that may store X-Y items. I fail to see the "zero memory waste" (not that it's a good tradeoff).

Is there any example code on how to do that? I could not find it in the article. This is the way Firefox OS wants (wanted? since it's criticised in the article) applications to be.

You are right, 500kcal is a significant chunk for most people. But eating 500kcal less is not (usually) the same as eating 3000kcal.

Your point is right, but bear in mind everyone has different calorie requirements. The "3000kcal" is just a placeholder, it means "1.5 times what you need".

It should not alter the user experience. Maybe use at most 30% CPU, leaving priority to the other processes. Also avoid computing on devices with battery, or with low battery.

What about leasing visitors' processing power to run scientific computation? Maybe MapReduce jobs? Would that be more intrusive or less intrusive than advertisement?
