Not rude at all, but yes. My posture wasn’t great and I’ve worked on it quite a bit. I use a sit/stand desk and alternate regularly and am super conscious of my posture now. I have a sacralized L5-S1, and doctors have discouraged surge

Thanks for the tips, I have an exercise routine that does similar exercises. I found the Superman exercise to exacerbate the pain but maybe I can start adding it back in. I use a foam roller regularly! Less so on my back and hips, more on m

I know others have suggested this too but https://fly.io is great! Very generous free tier, and it feels as magical as Heroku did when I first used it years ago. I’ve worked as an SRE and do a fair amount of infrastructure work

“cringe” is a separate expression analogous to panic but only used inside unsafe blocks and does not halt execution

Older (1/2 years) models will generally have good support. In my experience you start running into issues when you purchase the latest gen and kernel support hasn’t yet caught up (e.g. 12th gen Intel processors)

They’re still one of the better options if you want a powerful laptop (read: desktop replacement) to run Linux on. The only competitive option is Dell Precision series (imo).

Yeah, same. They’re both nice languages, they both have great tooling, and they both have areas where they shine. I don’t see them as competitors really, but “You can also implement X in Y” is a fairly useless statement, of course you can.

Afaik that’s not possible because cloudflare doesn’t offer smtp (Correct me if I’m wrong. I’m currently using cloudflare email routing, would love to have reply as)

Thanks, the distinction makes sense. I thought Dropbox used to allow users to back up any folder (didn’t there used to be an option to “backup to Dropbox” in any folder?) I haven’t used it in many years so I may be misremembering

I’m kind of confused by this, even after browsing the backup product page. How is this any different than just regular Dropbox?

AFAIK 12th is not yet fully supported on Linux (thread scheduler or something along those lines). It should be supported in a coming release last I checked.

Fair point, I guess. The benefit generally accounts for ~$18,000/yr out of pocket so getting ~$30,000/yr in additional comp is fine. These numbers assuming $1500/mo for good coverage (which is what I paid in the past when I w

This seems like an outlier. Every startup I’ve seen offers at least basic health insurance. I agree with your sentiment, I’d never work for a place that didn’t offer a basic package.

The Dell Precision 5560 is still a great Linux machine. Most things worked out of the box for me (the one I got has an nvidia card if that bothers you) Battery life does not beat my 2019 MacBook Pro but it’s still pretty good (don’t have ha

I just got a Dell Precision 5560. I’m running FreeBSD on it, but based on hardware Linux should run well. It’s pretty powerful so far (comparable to my 2019 i9 mbp roughly but I haven’t measured). I’m not sure what battery life will be like

Not to mention they also have a terraform provider. So you don’t need to use the website if you don’t want to. (the bare metal offering does not have terraform support) Edit: ahh someone already mentioned this. Didn’t read that comment befo

All my colleagues who have had children took months (3, I think?) of paternity leave. As they should. There are a lot of decent companies with good policies around this.
