I think you'd have to be crazy to upload on bittorrent. IANAL but I think you can only get sued for redistribution of copyrighted material, so downloading is safe.

But one major question remains. Will Turntable.fm be able to qualify as a non-interactive streaming radio service, afforded DMCA protection by the Copyright Act of 1998? If it does, then all it needs are these relatively inexpensive perfor

Banking != HFT. I've worked at both a bank and an HFT firm, so I think I have some perspective you might find interesting. To make a broad generalization from my experience, "Traders" at a bank are mostly non-technical Excel junkies. It see

Where is the comparison to the employment ratio of the entire workforce? Without this it is difficult to look at subsets (like 16-19 yrs old, 55+) and draw much of a conclusion. I would guess that population/macro effects probably tell a

I'm no security expert either, but I'm guessing the real solution is SSL. If you hash passwords in javascript, a middleman could easily just look up the source of your application and decrypt the hashed password coming over the wire.

No transitions/mixes/effects, just picking cool songs and taking turns like everyone else. I could easily see turntable hosting solo DJ sets with transitions and everything (and charging admission). Definitely something I'd pay for.

My guess is that they wanted to go the "self-contained" route as opposed to the "amalgamation of different libraries" approach (a la Pylons/Pyramid). This makes it a lot easier to learn for true beginners since it eliminates the overhead of

Kind of a linkbait title since less than half of the presentation is caveats and the remainder is advice for starting a startup. Nevertheless I thought it was well done--definitely lays out the risks very nicely. One thing I'd like to hear
