I think most people would prefer if all fossil fuel fuel sources could be replaced by sustainable non-polluting alternatives. How energy is produced and the sustainability of supply is of great importance to the miners. > Can Bitcoin sur

EVM based chains, like Ethereum and Binance Smart Chain require a token to meter usage of smart contract calls. This is called 'gas'. Complex calls require more gas. The gas price (acting as a price auction on transaction priority)

No, don't downplay it. Internet censorship is internet censorship. It is unacceptable. You are being told what you are not allowed to see. The pirate bay has absolutely no material that infringes any copyright holder -- it hosts magnet

I do realize that anyone can create an ERC20 token and publish it to BSC or any EVM chain. Hopefully folks are deriving their solidity contracts from the OpenZepplin Contracts library. A message with that address is published on the website

For folks that are living under Internet censorship regimes, would you be able to bypass these blocks by changing DNS servers? The idea being that you can have a local :53 resolver on your network, and resolves these names over an encrypte

That is not a good analogy -- Current and Voltage are related by ohms law. The energy costs are not related to the number of tokens, how often the tokens are traded, who made the tokens or who sold them.

That is my point. NFTs are just luxury items for conspicuous consumption. They exist so people can brag and show off. That is their value to the world. The new luxury brands for the nouveau riche. As a person that very much dislikes conspic

That is a second order effect at best. The loose fiat monetary policy of States also drives the price of cryptocurrencies -- far more so. Is this also to blame for the energy usage of Proof of Work? I would say it has a bigger effect on fix

The environment argument is technically incorrect, and typically used by ignorant people as it is a good emotional argument. There could be 1 or 10000000 NFTs, it makes no difference to the energy usage of the Ethereum network. The energy u

That is where Dandelion routing and anonymity networks comes in. A global passive observer could track cleartext transaction hashes and flag the first IP seen broadcasting them. Bitcoin peer-to-peer CAN support Tor for transaction routing.

No, it does not. Transactions also do not contain IP addresses. Some chain explorer will track 'first seen IP', eg: the first IP that relayed the transaction, but this does not mean the sender. Same deal with blocks -- you can see
