White/black "indicators" of toggles are horrid. A lot of phone and meeting apps do this and it's horrible. As for mute, I think it's pretty objective at this point that an icon based toggle should show the current s

Maybe a bit cynical and hyperbolic, but the point is good. I'd boil it down further and say it's a focus on short term gains over long term gains. If the pan flashes, that's a win, full stop. When the pan stops flashing and p

Welp, company did stupid thing, time to let the OS company have 100% control and profit over the entire computer. A bit of an outsized response, no? To be clear, I disagree with Zoom's rationale (avoiding a single confirmation click wh

This assumes there is one and only one reason to buy an iOS device, and it's because the platform is locked down. But that's not true is it? Is that the one and only reason you like iOS?

MacOS works exactly like what you are purporting to be undesirable, but I bet you have a Mac, and I bet your experience is none the worse for Apple's wild west policies on it.

If you presume that the EU has actually signed off on this and all the other DMA changes Apple announced, then the DMA at least as it affects Apple is useless. If iPadOS was deemed separate by the EU prior to the DMA rulings, that's i

As sibling points out, it's about what the EU thinks. "iPadOS" runs iOS apps, and iOS apps can be full fledged "iPadOS" apps with a single binary. The distinction is a business distinction, not a technical one. Ther

That's the thing about the DMA. These provisions only apply if you hit a certain extreme market presence. These regulations do not apply to those small companies.
