Cool, yes, one use case: you can stick document hashes in to the block chain to prove document state at some point in time. This no doubt has legal uses, and perhaps scientests too although I think less so. Re your shipping manifest example

literally every time someone asks this really straightforward question the answer is vague tech waffle. seriously, please: tell me one genuine use case for block chains that conventional database stack can't do?

yes but any of that stuff can be accomplished with conventional databases and software stacks. What specific problem with respect to implementing any of the above is blockchain solving that conventional stacks can't?

is there any evidence cameras are used? I've recently been engaged in two activities in front of my phone and got scarily relevant ads that I've never seen before, and are can not be part of my graph. I am not on social networks a

There are loads of alternative private minicab firms in London. Addison Lee has excellent mobile site. No need to sign up or install an app. And in my experience has always been excellent service and keenly priced.

Ok fine. but how is this implemented? Does a coin/token correspond to some amount of energy? And how is the real world transfer of energy constrained/dictated by the block chain record?

None of the responses in this thread so far give a specific real-world example of _how_ blockchains solve a problem. Just repeating the mantra that a decentralised ledger is great for payments or trade settlements or whatever. Yes but how?
