I'd rather these infographics be done with CSS so that I could view it on my smaller screen and excerpt it for commenting. Here's the list of innovations, more details are on the source infographic: iPad Google Apps Skype Zynga Tata Nano Ne

If going with this means adopting a specialized library with its own format, sticking with a fixed schema, and giving up human readable formatting, why not go whole hog and use protocol buffers instead? It'd be cheaper to convert and store.

As long as the larger screen wasn't a battery leech, I'm pretty sure nobody would complain "aw, my poor thumbs!"

I like the live in-browser compiling feature. I would love to see this become the norm in programming tutorials in the future.

I worry about the extreme fan-out that goes between content producers, datacenters packed with algorithms and content mills packed with hacks, dedicated to rewriting and excerpting that content, and then all these sharing mechanisms broadca

I really resent the degree to which companies like AOL, Gawker, and BI punch up their headlines for maximum effect. It's exhausting to skim these headlines in my Google Reader feed, because the emotions they invoke diminish my mental signal

"Become a part of the culture before trying to influence it" This is a tricky balancing act, because sometimes a fresh pair of eyes can be helpful, but OMG! I have recent experience with a new hire that needed to be shown that point. Everyt

I know some people that have the excitement-meter ratcheted up to 11. I don't put any faith into what they have to say, because the hyperbole makes it so hard to separate the wheat from the chaff. I have noticed a similar trend in the last

Jailbreaking isn't illegal for him now, but I imagine the taint of insider knowledge of Apple's products could make future jailbreak development a very risky proposition indeed!

I switched to a standing desk after developing a bulging disc in my lower back (crappy!) It's great until about hour five or so, at which point my legs and knees start crying uncle. I've found that I can last longer if I sprinkle in some si

I admire Vinh's reserve. Engineering is full of compromises, and few things are more irritating than the guy that walks into the shop and spouts out at the mouth, utterly ignorant of the historical context surrounding the compromises that h

Very neat. I'm happy to see that the demo scene magic still exists. I thought the days of seeing an animated ray traced scene from a 256 byte EXE were over. This runs fluidly on my Chrome/Sandy Bridge/Ubuntu setup.

Definitely too early to talk about a lack of network effect. Facebook didn't start life preprogrammed with users; it was Myspace that had all the users and content!

I feel the same way about Web 2.0 names with trendy dropped vowels. Bnter, for example - is it bantr? bntr? banter? These brands provide great fodder for typosquatters, I'm sure.
