There are so many costs involved that this is a non-starter for a lot of people. I would not want to fly back and forth on my own dime to satisfy my company. Not to mention, uprooting family/social networks/etc.

DoorDash and others have known about these for years. At this point there’s no way they aren’t complicit. These ghost kitchens bloat up the list of restaurants for user choice probably making people think more food is available.

I’m in the US, Venmo is almost as (if not, more) ubiquitous as cash between people in my area.

Who said anything about unions stopping layoffs? GP said they can negotiate who gets laid off and what happens to those who do. Unions can be an entirely appropriate and reasonable party.

Or there is the third option: do the layoffs, immediately cut access, then give a generous amount of severance with benefits.

I don't think there are any good points at all in this. On the first 5 (I gave up caring to type up more): > 1. This won’t get new users App Stores are still a discovery mechanism and it's a pain teaching users how to add them

I’m very much aware. I grew up in a poor family and was lucky to break out of the cycle in my 20s. That said, a club typically has people wanting free drinks and people not wanting to reciprocate. This environment is setting oneself up to b

Bezos' wealth is overwhelmingly tied into his Amazon holdings. Something seems off about being able to enter the business of nickle-and-diming while propping up the wealth of a single individual. I can understand the grievance of GP.

I really don’t understand the “why” here. As a toy project it’s interesting but the actual justification to actually use IRC seems to come after the implementation. This isn’t derived from the stability of IRC itself but the network operato

The author's baseless accusations wrapped in snark sounds incredibly petty. Given this is how the instance admin handles defederation, preemptive defederation of this network makes sense.

It's a fantastic and quick project! I use two layers of thin black foam. The top layer of foam sheet has cut-outs for the various types of media except microSD card, which is held in place with a small dab of glue. They're pressed

I have a frame of various media over the years over my desk including a 5.25" floppy, a 3.5" floppy, ZIP disk, CD, Blu-Ray, SD, microSD, etc. As a technical person, my mind keeps getting blown.

Misconfiguring or granting something unnecessary privileges is enough to eliminate anything as a security boundary. VMs easily give a false sense of security especially with any kind of network-based trust.

What comparison can one realistically do in a grocery store between most products? The packaging disguises a lot of characteristics of the products being sold unless you're strictly looking at produce or raw meats.

Let's do away with self-checkout and standard checkout. The model Amazon promotes with full delivery is where we ought to go as it'll save so much land and space in the long-term. In the near-term, the model adopted by Walmart, Ta

Various forms of social media have been a critical part of the internet ever since consumers started getting access to the internet on dialup. People signing up for a service with a sufficiently large userbase isn’t a recent phenomenon.
