I think its fairly widely accepted that the Uncanny Valley principle can be applied to things like usability and design. For example: https://medium.com/s/user-friendly/the-ux-uncanny-valley-cf3...

I don't think this was a mistake. The mistake is that they were automatically switched but I'm sure they intended to download and install it in the background. I know several people who clicked "try the new dropbox" and

The true cost IMHO is time, time to learn it, to deploy, configure, update, manage, etc. Even if the hosting was dirt cheap, I don't want to spend my time doing it.

I think your comment is a bit misleading as they aren't doing anything nefarious as you suggest. My guess is this is a carryover from Chrome and not something Brave decided to build; if that's the case your not getting more secure

Nationalism is an extension of tribalism which is inherited in human beings, it's in our DNA [1]. We, as a species, may override our instincts to do what we feel is better for humanity, but then again humanity is just a larger tribe. [

I guess that depends on the type of business you in. You can be successful being a professional and putting in your 40 hours a week. It's very hard to have a startup working 40 hours a week, in fact, I'd love to know who's do

I keep hearing that SF spends so much money on the homeless, but I don't see that to be the case. NYC spent $3.2b in 2019 [1]; they guarantee a bed for every person, every night, etc. If SF wants to solve the issue, look to NYC, and op

Actually, I did, obviously. I feel I have a much better picture of contracted centers like the one described in the article than a sensationalizing story from The Verge could inform me of though.

I like your analogy, I'd add that DNA search/collection is akin to scanning cell phone records to see who was in the area at the time of the crime. Which typically requires a warrant.
