I wonder why YouTube doesn't implement full DRM, such as Widevine, at this point. Is it because it would break compatibility with some devices? Is it too expensive? (not that I'd like that; I always download videos from YouTube fo

Me too, but I've used a good VHS player with HDMI output. So it's one transformation step less, and maybe the end quality is the best possible (I hope).

I also love Immich, but it seems like there's some controversy about FUTO: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=45666239

I'm happy that somebody is trying to create a new browser -- even though some people say it's impossible nowadays. But FUTO sponsoring that project gives bad vibes.

Exactly, never accept a switch to a private place when you're trying to gather attention on public matters. It could and it will be used against you later on.

I don't see why Pac-Man should be valued less than the statue of David. Of course they're different, but they both contributed to the culture heritage of the human species.

100% agree. I've been working in the industry for almost 20 years, I'm a full stack developer and I manage my servers. I've tried signing up for AWS and I noped out. AWS Is a complete mess. Everything is obscured behind other

Also, let's stop using the term "sideloading", as if it's something bad or shady. It's called "installing apps".

The best way to block YouTube Shorts is using a modified APK on Android. Plus, you don't get ads. I'd almost use the "real" YouTube app with ads on, if I could disable Shorts entirely.

That's not a good thing for other reasons; e.g. there are a lot of inconsistencies in modern Windows, like pieces of Windows 3.1 still in Windows 11.

I agree with you. The main problem is that we don't have many politicians that want to tackle immigration in a serious and responsible way. So people end up giving votes to the far right.

I agree, nowadays Linux seems like the only reliable solution. Even macOS, with the latest "liquid glass" update, feels like a toy for kids. I just wish the Affinity suite would be available for Linux too.
