I'm a developer. I'll only miss the iOS Simulator to try my Expo apps, but I can use a real device instead. I'll also miss OneDrive, but I can switch to other providers with Linux support (e.g. Dropbox).

It's supported. But it's going to be the last major OS update for my device, so I won't upgrade. I don't want to be stuck with a half-assed version.

I agree, it's hideous. I miss the cleanliness of macOS Sierra. I'll just stay on Sequoia for the time being, and then switch to Linux.

I agree, except for the GNOME part. I think GNOME 2 was the last usable version, everything went downhill since GNOME 3. KDE or Cinnamon (Linux Mint) are good though.

I'd rather get used to Linux.

I'm afraid for the battery life of my MacBook Pro 2019 (Intel). I'll think I'll never update and just keep using Sequoia until I switch to Linux.

Me too. I hate the auto-translation feature. Both on YouTube and other websites that force it on you, such as the new Reddit (I'll just stop using Reddit when they turn off Old Reddit).

Fun-fact: that's a relic of Windows 3.1, where the close button was exactly in the top left corner of each window. Too bad most new Windows 10+ apps don't support that anymore.

Also, Stack Overflow is a commercial website, while Wikipedia is a free (as in freedom) project. Editing Wikipedia feels like you're contributing towards "an ideal", that you're giving back something to humanity, instead

In Italian it's called "carrello", which mean cart. Cart makes more sense than carriage, IMO.

What if I don't want KeyPassXC to ask me for a PIN every time? I can modify its source code and nobody can stop me.

I honestly suggest using Mozilla Firefox built-in password manager, it's enough for most people.

Not only transparency, but freedom. Freedom to use something you bought the way you want, without having a private foreign company decide for you.

It's the same situation in Italy. Netflix doesn't have any interesting content anymore, only their own originals.

> as soon as passkeys started popping up the endgame became clear That's why I'm 100% against passkeys. I'll never use them and I'll make sure nobody I know does. They're just a lock-in mechanism.

My family has also been using it for years, but I'm the one who always had to install, update, fix problems, etc. I think the biggest obstacle to widespread adoption of Linux is not using Linux itself, it's installing it on a comp

I work on a mac, but I have Linux at home. I've started using LibreOffice at home and I'm surprised at how snappier it is compared to Word. Exported PDFs are even lighter that the ones Word do.

Your link doesn't work for me. Try this: https://www.televideo.rai.it/televideo/pub/index.jsp By the way, an interesting book called "La TV da sfogliare. 1984-2024. 40 anni di Televideo" by Guido Ba

Maybe they shouldn't offer a "OK" button that the stupid user can blindly click. They could tell you, "this app is dangerous, go to system settings to enabled" and a "Dismiss" button.

ReVanced also has the additional benefit of blocking ads, allowing background play and auto-skipping sponsorships thanks to SponsorBlock. Also, if you have an Android TV, I'd suggest SmartTube, it's way better than the original ap

Three random examples that come to my mind: - Tinyurl.com, launched in 2002, currently 23 years old - Urly.it, launched in 2009, currently 16 years old - Bitly.com, also launched in 2009 So yes, some services survived a long time.

yt-dlp can fetch cookies from your browser, so no, it won't break it. If YouTube really did want to stop yt-dlp, they'd encrypt all the videos with Widevine.

I hate all of this. We're collectively losing freedom (in the name of "protecting the children") and we're doing nothing to stop this. People will realize it when it's too late.
