Regulation? This article and politicians complain about regulation, but I don't see it affecting most tech companies, and don't see it disproportionally affecting small tech companies. It certainly isn't one of my big costs

If it is a single HTML page with all CSS and important JS built in, I don't see how multiplexing will help the single page load faster.

I really prefer to do what is best for my users: fast loading simple pages for users with slow connections on the other side of the world. (So, HTTP, not HTTPS.) But there is no sense fighting the powers that be. EDIT: Thanks for the down

I see articles like this one every once in a while. A chemistry professor once told my class that due to the rate of diffusion, that we had just learned, the test of the "old air" would be wrong. I don't know chemistry well.

I think we should now expect that Amazon will copy any successful service like this, even if it doesn't materially help its bottom line.

In many respects, Yahoo is more of a publisher, a content provider, than a tech company. That makes it more like the newspaper business that he knows well.

I was new to the industry and the recruiters would get me offers for 3-5k more than my extremely low starting salary. The only way to make it work was to tell them that I was paid better at my job. Then they would give me opportunities in

Xcode 7.3.1 doesn't seem to be enough. I installed Xcode 7.3.1, but git hasn't been updated to 2.7.4. $ git --version git version 2.5.0 Do I need to do something more?

A bus infrastructure? You must mean a self-driving taxi- or uber-like smart car infrastructure. Yes, I know it doesn't solve the "problem" completely, but it is a step in that direction. The next step would be sharing rides.

I have to ask! Can somebody tell me: Am I supposed to click the tiny corners of signs in another square? If it is a sign that is not a "street sign", such as a billboard, do I click it? ::confused::

You need to ask the rate that they can borrow the money at, because they can sell the building in the end. Given that the building can be sold for the same price that they paid: $250M x 2.3% per year (the going rate for one of Google's

I imagine that the only reason that the title is not "How Washington Post’s ‘Bandito’ Tool Optimizes Content For Clicks" is that the editor of the WSJ rejected it.

What I loved about WebDAV is that it let me edit a file on a remote server using my personal PC. When I wanted to save to the remote computer, I just saved it. Is there a good replacement out there?

I wonder how much of this is PR-driven. Is Eric Schmidt spending his evenings and weekends searching for investments like this? Or do Google's PR people come to him saying: "You should invest in this. It will be good PR for Googl

I would want: - Easier updates. Now it is a minor hassle to update my MySQL database table from CVS. I need to do it again soon. - Availability in different formats. For my personal needs, I would love to download a MySQL MyISAM table.

I did it and got a job out of it. Some companies won't consider you, but others might see determination. As long as you are mentally ready to get rejected by most, you have little to lose.
