Once again I don't really understand the comparison between a PHONE and a gucci bag/expensive watch. Unlike the iPhone, the products you mention cost orders of magnitude more than their competition, I can buy a $30 bag from Ross

PWAs come with their own suite of functionality issues these days, but I'm sure they'll be able to compete with Apple's native solutions sooner or later. FaceTime does support sharing links so far but it's something I ha

I speak from my own point of reference in the USA, which is also for the most part Apple's main audience. It's well known how dominant android devices are overseas.

Oh please, no one's out here trying to "rise above the unwashed android masses" when they buy an iPhone, it's just what they are used to. It's not a status symbol, it's a fucking phone. And despite what you bel

While I get your argument, Apple probably just doesn't give a shit about competing in the ultra cheap phone market, they've found their "niche" (for lack of a better term) and will probably stay the way they are for the

Can confirm this is how a lot of the Xiamo Co.'s cheaper phones (brands like Poco/Vivo i think?) are able to sell hardware that competes way above its weight at such unbelievable low prices.

I've yet to try firefox mobile on my phone, I've had no reason to switch from safari (most of my browsing is on Brave on my laptop anyway), but I'll give it a shot. Safari in iOS 15 also has extension support, and apps like H

I think the CTO's reasoning comes from that while GitLab is competitive in terms of usage and features (actually offering a more complete CI experience imo), it's influence is still relatively miniscule in comparison to GitHub. I

I personally think the reason was to further reduce the need to move your thumb from the bottom of the screen. The current iteration of safari is the only mobile browser I have ever used where I feel comfortable browsing and switching tabs

The “closed source ecosystem” is not nearly as restrictive as people make it out to be and is something that you willingly sign up for when buying apple products. Not sure where you got the idea of “icloud syncing your every move” but liter

lol it's no problem. I've noticed the same animation issues in safari, and tbh, its very unlike apple. There are other apps in macOS which have collapsible sidebars (preview and finder come to mind), but they don't suffer wit

Yes, this, 100% agreed. Having the kids learn on their own and experience things (and their consequences) firsthand is the right way to do things, I didn't get that far in my comment but yours sums it up fantastically. The parent comme

While I agree with the sentiment that a determined kid would go to just about any length to get something, even if that something is bad for him, I will have to give a hard "no" to what you said afterwards. Pointlessly denying a c

It's safe to assume that the majority of the people on both this specific post and this website as a whole are not teenagers, thus probably can't understand how the situation is like for us.

I don't think it is unreasonable to assume that the overwhelming majority of people who use computers only use the web browser for 90% of the things they do; the author's viewpoint seems adequate considering that.

macs come with facetime preinstalled (the newer ones at least) and you can send facetime links to people and they can join using the web client if they dont have a mac.

Why is this getting downvoted? It’s very true, just the accusation of committing such a crime (regardless of whether the person was acquitted or not) can easily ruin many facets of a persons’ life.
