That's too broad a brush. I'm against militarism, but what engagement against conventional forces has the US military lost in the last 20 years? I can't speak to dealing with insurgencies but it's clear to me that a mix

Yeah, let's hope we can produce our own fertilizer, otherwise high prices won't be the only concern.

I don’t see why this is a problem. Sass users already name their files .scss. Why would there be overlap with .css files?

It immediately makes me think of idealism and panpsychism. Not saying that’s what reality is, but it makes me think that it could be.

I think a central bank coin would be an improvement over our current system given some very strict safeguards and democratic control over what gets regulated. I think we should already have a national referendum system, but I'd definit

If people from around the world could go to Spain or Finland in the 30's to fight, I don't see much of a difference today.

This is exactly what Maajid Nawaz was talking about on the JRE recently. There is a big push for a centralized digital currency that your employer or the state can prevent you from spending money on certain things. But even without that, th

Yep! This is my plan. I already work remote, so I plan to continue that as long as I can. Eventually, I want to buy land in a remote place that is as climate change resistant as possible, like the upper midwest. I want to build an off grid

Collapse is a complex topic, but essentially if the thesis is true, then we are on a downward spiral in complexity and in population. At some point, high tech will be replaced with low-tech solutions that take less energy and less maintenan

It ends with ecological and societal collapse. While the party lasts tech will increase. But eventually in the next 20-50 years tech will mean very little given we don't have the resources to continue growth exponentially. In the inter

While adults abusing underage children is deeply disturbing to us, morality is a shifting metric that can change very fast, while biology doesn't moves much slower. Whatever reason some people are attracted to children, is hard wired i

The Immortality Key by Brian Muraresku. It’s a cool look at lesser known side of Western civilization, namely estatic spiritual experiences. Even if you don’t agree with the author’s conclusions, it’s very well researched and a fun read.
