Yet another reason I wish the US were a real democracy. For all the good that checks and balances do, let's not forget that the founders were trying to entrench the power of their class.

It would be great if one day we could visit planets such as these, even if just with robots. I mean, the ethics of commiting your descendants to life aboard a generational ship is very sketchy.

I just watched this video where the brother of one of the French kings, died by falling from his horse after tripping over a pig: https://youtu.be/fjalQSOLZE4?t=76

I was with the author up until the end. Why not have have regulation that makes the big company's spend money on processing? The can surely afford it.

The map is not the territory. Perhaps computation is a good model, but not really what's going on. Sort of like how the standard model in physics needs an understanding of quantum gravity. It also gets into metaphysics, as some people

As many pundits have noted, the UK needs to negotiate good trade deals before its bargaining positions weakens further. Looking at the forecast, it might already be too late for that.

Couldn't we just use low enriched uranium for that? And as long as you aren't actively powering it up on takeoff, even in an accident, how radioactive would it be?

It will be so cool, if eventually we could deploy telescopes on other plants, like in Ad Astra.

Ok, for that to be true, what degree of warming will cause the sea to rise more than mitigations can be put in place? If we keep warming to 3 degrees, do you think the sea works will not be enough?

I think that's definitely a mindset of someone who has enough financial cushion to be able to do that in the first place. No one living paycheck to paycheck is going to do that unless they are immature or reckless to begin with.

That is such a good answer. It often feels like a lot of startups are chasing ideas that have never been tried and hoping to find market fit, compared to solving actual pain points that people would gladly pay for.

At this point in history, if anyone honestly thinks that maximizing shareholder value is a good highest goal for a corporation, they are just blind. It's clear in situations like this to see that the only reason Amazon is doing this is

Ok this is classic hyperbole, but to pretend like 0 Chinese students are uses by the CCP, just like I'm sure the CIA has done similar tactics before would be naive.

I agree. The complaint I don't have time seems like a very first world, and honestly very American, problem to have. There is batch prep, online food delivery, and simple one pot meals that can be either done in a slow cooker, or under

If you really just need work asap, Upwork is a great place to go. However, I have love/hate relationship with the platform, as getting noticed can be very hard and they take money off the table. But having found permanent employment on

I agree, but I think it's hard for us non-farmers to grasp the scale of industrial agriculture. I would love it we switched over to another way of doing things, but with 8 billion people, there is no feasible way back to an earlier, or

Can I just say I am jealous that Rwanda has universal health care? I don't know all the details, and I do think it is easier to govern smaller countries, but dang, that's cool.
