Thanks for actually doing the math! =) There might be a mistake with the $90k/yr leftover though. If you lose 35% of $250k/yr to tax (87.5k) and need to save $93k each year, then you should only have about $70k/yr left. This

I didn't read the whole blog series, but this data structure seems like it could support O(log(n)) insert/remove in middle or front. The equivalent operation in an ArrayList would take O(n). Why not show off this performance advan

What are some applications of this? If an attacker has access to memory there's not much left you can do right? Or is the use case similar to why you would want to zero out the memory used to store password strings?

I think you unfortunately choose a few companies that HNers love. If you had chosen tvtropes.org, television, and ad agencies as your examples then your point might be made clearer. If I am interpreting you correctly, you're saying tha

Thinking about it more I think it makes more sense to have N as the number of test takers. That way you can model it as a question x having a probability p_x of being correct. Then the total grade on problem x will be a binomial(N, p_x), wh

Hmm, is it still binomial if each individual question has different p of being correct? Also you will have to shift and rescale the binomial distribution to get it to have a mean of 100 and a std dev of 15 (which iq is defined as). But you

I agree it is going to expensive but it's not because of memory. You could probably just try every (x,y) center and have all points vote for the radius, and just keep max before moving on to next point.
