one hacky way to configure it is too install xfce4-power-manager and then run it in your config file. then the power manager will also handle the brightness keys.

Your logic does not justify your conclusion. Having too much of a good thing first of all brings the obvious opportunity cost. But there may be (and are) additional costs with too much infrastructure.

My guess is that as long as the orbital periods of the involved planets are sufficiently different (not being rational multiples of each other for example) , making the system ergodic . Then Mercury will always be the closest by the metric.

This is so wrong. Objects can have enough energy that will become arbitrary far apart as time passes. In no sense are the objects bound together in that case.

My understanding is that eigenfactor rates journals, not individual papers, so if somehow you get low-quality (whatever you want that to mean) papers into nature it has no independent way to realize that your specific paper is low quality.
