> The alternative isn't nothing. The alternative is either Java, Qt, Gnome, Slint, rolling your own, doing per OS UI, etc. I said IF the alternative is nothing. IF . Read that again. Read the whole context. Words are important.

I knew a CEO that claimed that Mythical Man Month was his favourite book. As soon as it was decided the team was late (due to constantly changing scope) he put forth a plan to make the team 4x bigger in one year. Contrary to probably the mo

Reading is a huge problem with certain developers. It's not only documentation, which they ask for but never read. They also won't read error messages, and ask seniors for help on almost every situation. (But the most infuriatin

My company handles this by allowing them to study on the dime. I just ask how much time they want and ask them to do it, and if they need some material or help devising a study plan. Curiously the two that needed it didn't really want

True. In some cases it can also mean that the team needs to limit the scope and focus on what really matters. Sure, there's lots of startups burning the midnight oil to finish that MVP. But especially on more mature teams, it's in

For most 2D/3D games using ECS, which is something somewhat popular right now, you can definitely easily abstract the editor, in the manner flohofwoe mentioned for example. Same for other systems. A few minutes using Unity3D are able t

Alright, then it sounds closer to what I'm thinking, although extremely limited :) Either way, I'm glad it exists! My point is only that MORE can be done, regardless of integration or not. What really matters is the data model and

Makes total sense to me. I personally would probably pay the €69 if my employer paid a part, since I already pay €40 / €63 for Berlin, which I consider a good deal. But for people that have a car and tourists €70 is indeed a bit steep.

Sorry, but Electron is amazing if the alternative is "nothing". Same for game-specific editors. Some companies can't do it, so in this case Unity/Unreal editors are indeed better. And some engines also don't have th

This has nothing to do with integration but rather with the goal. Comparing a 2D-only tile editor and an animation editor with a 2D/3D engine and full-IDE is nonsensical. Might as well compare Logic Pro X with Visual Studio Code. Which
