I still say relocate. There’s literally not another option and that’s what I would do. The alternative is what? Struggle and live in your car for years hoping that state legislation will magically build enough affordable units? You can’t al

Honestly not a bad argument at all. My knee jerk reaction says the lowest layer of government should get priority.

This is the best response I’ve gotten so far. It does seem a bit silly to me that I couldn’t build a duplex on my own property. But then I wonder again if this is an issue that the state government should fix instead of the municipalities.

When it comes to local issues like zoning I think it makes sense that the people actually living there get to decide.

The youngsters are free to live elsewhere no? I just purchased my first home earlier this year. Obviously I had no choice but to purchase a home in a city/neighborhood I could afford. Why can’t others do the same?

I mean it doesn’t NEED to be expensive it just is. The folks living there don’t want to change their local zoning laws. I don’t really feel like I should have a say if I don’t live there. The burden of proof for an argument should come from

One thing I don’t understand about the housing debate is why any specific area needs to be “affordable” If I can’t afford to live in an area, it seems to me the solution is to live somewhere else. Maybe I’m missing something. I’m open to ne

For some reason everyone on this site sees the term “whataboutism” as an immediate way to invalidate a statement they disagree with. I believe OPs point was that in fact, Russia is as corrupt as other world powers…so you shouldn’t be shocke

I'm not sure I understand your question. I do not believe that universal healthcare cannot exist without prohibition and regressive taxes.

So who gets to be the arbiter? So many people seem to think we can tax and incarcerate our way out of every problem. Those are simple solutions to complex problems. Of course magnitude matters. Clearly we disagree on where the line is. Sin

This is a horrible argument. I could apply the same logic to all your unhealthy habits as well. I don’t smoke but regressive tax structures and social control “for the greater good” are signs of a dystopia. Good intentions, road to hell…etc

Is this a serious suggestion? Us peasants have to work for the government 4 months a year and even after our take home we eat taxes on purchases, investments and property. But yeah, let’s give crypto miners the tax breaks surely they deserv

I use the gnu coreutils because small things like cli flags are different for the macos implementations. So for example some aliases in my .zshrc didn’t work on my MacBook. I come from a Linux background so it was nice for me to have coreut

Are you comparing ARM to x86 or Intel chips specifically? Intel could design their own ARM chips…it’s an architecture family with a SUPER wide variety of implementations. Everyone seems to be excited about the newer AMD chips which are x86.

I keep seeing this argument and it makes ZERO sense. You still need to build infrastructure to read the NFT and incorporate it into your game. You can already do this without a blockchain and a global network of hyper redundant miners/

I suppose those theories are possible and I should do some research. The "normal" way to receive B12 was from livestock eating grass/vegetation that were covered in dirt. In that case, humans would indeed meet their B12 requi

You could do a quick search but I think common sense should suffice here. How did all the (meat eating) humans survive before b12 supplements were around? Animals surely do not receive supplements in the wild. In the factories is where they

Where else can I go to get a quality, privacy focused FOSS browser? I want non-chromium. Someone on HN the other day suggested using the TOR browser without connecting to a tor circuit, but that seems overkill.

I think it’s awesome the amount of effort Microsoft is putting into WSL. Frankly, they’re way more open to FOSS integration compared to apple.
