When I look at Airbnbs in SF, NY etc they are regularly more expensive than hotels with none of the benefits of a hotel. Why should a city prioritize the needs of landlords and visitors over most of their constituents? Would love to see the

It depends on the market, and in its most mature markets the company has worked with cities to make it legal and regulated. Uber has a tiny prescence in Asia at this point outside India having sold most of their biz to Grab. The biggest tur

Uber and Airbnb are completely different beasts. At least rideshare benefits both residents and visitors alike and taxis are universally hated for high rates and fees. How does Airbnb benefits residents of a city outside of landlords/s

Uber was for awhile, but would argue now it’s become mostly regulated...drivers have to get the right TIC licenses, airports have official signage for rideshare. Airbnb to me still feels like the Wild Wild West (Uber circa 2013) and they ta

Having worked in tech for a few years in non-tech roles (analytics, product) I was looking for a code bootcamp because I didn’t want to look back and regret not deeply learning in a way that I felt like I could not do with self study alone.

First thing that comes to mind is the new wave of fintech apps for pay/bill management (like Earnin) that take in your entire bank feed in exchange for spotting you before your next payday...

I think this has become outdated. From my experience FAANGs are largely filled with people who are risk-adverse, which is why it makes sense to me that the next gen of startups will come from alumni of successful unicorns given the risk-see

Honestly I think this is partially why Blue Apron failed...they overestimated how many people desire variety in dinner choices. Someone build a blue apron except for ingredients for weekly meal prep.

I don’t know what the terms are or how much the CEO/founder has. Assuming a 2x liquidation preference there would be $240m left after investors take their share. If the CEO has 5% then that’s $12m.

I still to this day scratch my head over how we’ve normalized sleeping in another stranger’s bed, as as hosts have normalized complete strangers touching our stuff and having sex in our beds. It’s wild.

I really think Tesla will fail, and worry what that will do to the stock market and/or tech industry. Things don’t add up over there, and pain will be unleashed sooner or later.

It’s fine 95% of the time. If you are booking an Airbnb same day as check in it’s going to have to be an instant booking, which is a fraction of the Airbnbs available. If you’re a biz traveler and your flight is delayed or getting in late t

Yes, not necessarily novel either. Some Hilton and Marriott hotels have “digital keys” that you’re granted through their app once you check in on the app to unlock your room.

I’m referring to their last valuation of $400m in 2017. The company hasn’t hockeysticked since then, by any measure (e.g. App Store rank), so I think we can deduce the sale price was likely well below $1b, maybe 500m at very best but guessi

It’s a sad joke. If the gov’t wants to fix drug prices then figure out how to stop companies from gaming the system like this.

Ok - but just isolating the active part of the drug makes it patentable. Still ridiculous given how cheap Ketamine is.

Actually I just read that Esketamine is patented while Ketamine is not, even though it’s essentially the same thing. So JNJ can charge these ridiculous prices because they changed one small thing about the drug so they could slapped a paten

Interesting that there doesn’t seem to be a therapy component to the treatment...meaning you’re just going to a clinic to sort of watch over you as you take it. The price of $3k for 8 doses is so high compared to regular ketamine. I wonder
