I have to second this. I do not have an eye for design and I know this. It's just my weakness. Having a good designer on board is an absolute must. If you want a suggestion, try http://www.monfx.com/ | http://www.mdolon.com/ -- he i

Great! We're on the same page now, different sides of experience. It's unfortunate that we were ingrained with that "don't talk to strangers" mentality--I understand the reason for it, but it does hurt us as adults. The surprise thing is n

"The social consensus tells people that if someone talks to them in that situation out of the blue they are either mad or bad!" This is what some would call "a limiting belief" and I used to feel this way. Every interaction is between the

Talking to strangers and making it work is a GREAT social confidence builder. Doing it enough is a good way to learn what works and doesn't as well. I didn't read much of the original post but what he's doing is a GOOD thing. As for the a

That is what I ended up doing. Except this is raw data. Usually NLP researchers work from corpora that are already segmented into sentences and tagged with part-of-speech tags. I had to go through the hassle of segmenting and marking up

As the comments (on the google page) illustrate, this corpus is close to useless unless you're a university researcher. Commercial use of this data costs big $$$. And if you're an independent you still have to pay $150 or so to get LDC to

If we're going to yackety yack about spell checkers, After the Deadline is really accurate because it looks at context and uses trained neural networks to sort recommendations. Hunspell does sophisticated stuff but as Norvig said (somewhe

I've thought of adding goto to Sleep. Have you ever looked at the code in the Linux kernel? It's full of gotos. They use goto's to make sure functions have one exit point and to cleanly deal with errors in one spot.
