Can't you define FORTH (or a subset of it) for some architectures purely in assembly, then use those functions like normal? I remember some file floating around on GitHub that showed how to do that. Anyway, amazing work as always!

They need to imply it obliquely because their arguments tend to fall apart under scrutiny.

Rust is just a (pretty opinionated) tool. When it works, it really works, and the architecture rises smoothly. When it doesn't work, it really doesn't work, and there's some teeth gnashing and maybe a little praying Zig reach

GUI in Rust specifically is very unpleasant, from my limited experience.

The Chinese government has seeped its way into nearly every facet of American life. This is most visible in Disney movies (see: the Mulan and Lion King remakes) but it is happening to many companies and universities where they use our own g

Basically every major Chinese company is partially controlled by the Chinese government. (Not trying to detract from your point, just providing context.)

Every language feature gets misused in some way, but if it is overwhelmingly used to clarify and reduce code, I think it is a win. I believe generics will overwhelmingly be used to do this, so I think they are a win. I doubt more complex fe

I've always wanted to try FreeBSD but I could never get my drivers to work (thanks, RealTek). Maybe someday.

This might be a nerd-sniping question because there are lots of reasons and people will fight over which ones are most relevant. e.g. V8, rendering, myriad web protocols, security measures, etc. From my understanding at least.

I'd really like it if Github handled massive commits like this one better. The way they present it is not very pleasant to navigate.

Astute observation. It is common for people to live life with "maps" that worked well early on but now work very poorly. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Map%E2%80%93territory_relation

Multiple inheritance is basically strictly more powerful than either traits or interfaces with default implementations. I don't think traits or interfaces with default implementations prevent the bug, as I can imagine a Rust implementa

This is a problem in open source: everybody wants the fruits of labor without paying for it. The log4j vulnerability is what happens when you don't pay for it.

Isn't this related to proportionality? Giving somebody with only $1 another dollar increases their wealth by 100%. Giving somebody with $1 million another two dollars increases their wealth much less, proportionally.

I'm pretty sure they meant "pattern finding" as "discovering new patterns that can be used for matching", not "finding a pattern that matches an existing known one".
