Exactly this. Offering AMD or dGPU is a whole other level of engineering, supply chain, and support effort. Google itself may also be good for a few thousand orders, just from all their now orphaned Pixelbook users. And presumably that’s st

Are those the only hardware differences from a regular Framework?

Didn’t google make a version of ChromeOS that can be installed on a lot of regular laptops? Seems to me it’s possible there may not be any hardware difference between the Chromebook edition and other Framework laptops.

This is so true, except for that one glorious, fleeting period when iOS apps were new and you could be an overnight millionaire with something like Flappy Bird.

I'm sure NVIDIA is a serious pain in the ass to deal with (Linus_middle_finger.gif), but perhaps one of the unspoken reasons is that, as suggested by the rumor mill, there's a serious oversupply problem with next gen GPUs. NVIDIA

One night a few weeks ago I had my first ever UFO sighting. It was a pretty classic scenario of lights hanging in the sky and then suddenly accelerating far more quickly than I thought an airplane would be capable of. I live in the glide pa

Some number of the staff may also be from the “questionable” side of the business. They don’t have to do any actual restaurant work but will get some clean income as part of their total compensation. So the laundering happens at more than o

Would be a good start, but even then, if there's a low probability of getting caught, a lot of business people might roll the dice. There needs to be serious jail time for serious fraud.

Laws need to be written to hold the c-suite personally responsible for fraud. Otherwise there’s basically every incentive to commit fraud and consider it a cost of doing business. There’s a sitting U.S. senator with presidential ambitions w

I’m going to have to stan for Weird Al here and say that there’s basically 0% chance that he didn’t know the difference between RAM and hard drive space. He’s actually quite meticulous in his songwriting and pays a lot of attention to detai

I don’t disagree with you that serious money can be saved if one knows the correct way to buy from a private party. But psychological comfort also has real value for a lot of, maybe even most, people. It may seem like a poor reason to you,

I appreciate it, but it’s actually not bad for me personally. My wife wants a new car rather than need one. We can afford to wait but can also afford to buy now, and I wanted her to be happy. But I know many others are definitely not so for

Until they put some teeth into their “unhappiness”, forgive me for taking it as merely low effort PR noise. For $10k per car (or 30-50k on some models like the F-150 Lightning), a dealer would be willing to incur all kinds of unhappiness. B

People don’t have trusted mechanics or know how to get one. For the majority of people, the dealer where they got the car is their “(somewhat) trusted mechanic”. That’s why they go to dealers or CarMax and pay a huge premium, just for the p

That’s how it used to work (and still does for some less in demand/in short supply models), but if you’re after something that’s even moderately popular (most SUVs and EVs), you’ll hardly see any replies nowadays. That was the case whe
