I find it strange to blame the industry just to absolve everyone else. As if they had been in a somehow privileged position to know. To me it seems like there was some early research and then more and more research, so that by the 80s there

It's what Siri and Alexa should have been. I think we will see much more of this in the next years. If - and only if - it can run locally and not keep a permanent record then the issue of listening in the background would go away, too.

The fact is that you don't have to look at all, because the Tesla touchscreen does not have modalities. (There is a drill-down menu that you NEVER need to open during driving). Everything else is accessible in exactly the same spot at

Can you give an example of something that really needs to be adjusted on the touchscreen while driving that cannot be adjusted using the buttons on the steering wheel on the Model 3? I never ever need to do this. Additionally the lane keepi

At least in Germany most manufacturers do this - and not only for electric cars. Many modern cars do not contain a spare tire. And this has been widely reported for at least 10 years now. I generally find it really strange that so many arti

How can it possibly be more rent extracting than the mainframe? Also openness, choice of vendor, invisible hardware and virtually unlimited scalability are different.

Couldn't conventional software have done this? And it didn't. So why would AI do it now?

Maybe it will, maybe it won't. It took Amazon a decade to have a serious impact on the economy, even though it was working from day one. Now we have AI technology that's only half working. So what the impact will be and when is an

A currency is a tool, not a store for wealth. Stability is to be balanced against employment and economic productivity.

The reason why this is likely not possible is because consciousness appears to require a notion of time passing by and having a constant experience means that there is no time. For time to exist some sort of motion is needed, including eith

Why? I think this would only be true if negative inflation is the goal. Since the inflation rate is computed relative to last year and as long as salaries do not increase, after a year or two of inflation the average employee has less and l

It is not entirely different because the classic Autopilot was migrated from radar to vision-only and that surely was done by sharing some code. However the classic autopilot is outdated by 4 years. But my point was not about Autopilot vs.

This is simply wrong, because it is not a matter of cost. ChatGPT can be available for free and it would still not replace most jobs in its current state. Likewise the current state of vision-based self-driving is not good enough to replace

Well, the non FSD autopilot always does this for me. It would certainly hit things regularly. It does recognize moving cars but it would have hit countless parked cars on the right side had I not intervened.

Why would this be different with a net that only handles the input? It would be the same. All v12 does is learn control outputs directly from camera data instead of, for example, learning to detect a traffic light and then have some hand ro

What a strange thing to say. Come on, you must have done at least something small as a selfless act. At least something does has not inconvenienced you very much. We do this all the time and not just to feel better about ourselves.
