I’m really quite dismayed by the purely x 86/ x 64-centric viewpoint. No mention of POWER9, for example (my own personal favourite), which I’m running on my workstation ( https://www.raptorcs.com/TALOSII/ ) There’s

And to quote some of Despair.com’s all-time best Demotivators: The only recurring factor in all of your failed relationships is you. It could just be that the purpose of your life is to serve as a warning to others.

If you’re into that kind of thing, RadTech makes microfleece screen protectors and sleeves that are already sized appropriately for various Apple products. https://www.radtech.com/products/screensavrz-macbook-pro-key...

It really stuns me how “MacOS” doesn’t appear anywhere in the Pros (or the Cons). That’s literally the main discriminant between choosing an Apple machine over any other brand, and there’s no mention of it. By missing that main difference t

I’d denote stealing with my palm facing downwards. I actually had to try it out in real life... I can’t think of gesticulating in the abstract. Seems like you can take the Italian out of Italy but not Italy out of the Italian.

Surprisingly, as an Italian, I know exactly what this means: “wonderful, amazing, perfect”.

I suggest you also check out UTM (Universal Turing Machine), an emulator for the iPad that you can build and that allows you to emulate many different architectures and tun OSes written for them (including ARM). https://getutm.ap

Very interesting... my first (and last) encounter with heterogeneous OSes was back in the mid nineties with TaOS (best reference found online is http://www.uruk.org/emu/Taos.html but the website is rather wonky). Hones

As somebody who was already a high school student deeply ‘into’ computer technology at the time, I perfectly remember the hype and release of XML. IOS was released last week by mental accounting standards. To hear both be branded as ‘legacy

Yeah – ARM is just making it easy to get access to their IP while you’re in the strapped-for-cash startup mode. Once you start producing and selling you’ll be on the hook for licenses like anybody else.

Which is funny, really, since for a long while MIPS provides amazingly high-performance parts used in Silicon Graphics (SGI) workstations.

Funnily enough I would have said the exact same thing for exactly opposite reasons: on our level everything looks very regular despite the underlying subatomic world being totally nondeterministic.

Obviously the minimum possible amount of data for a “Game of Life”-type setup would be a bunch of ‘ON’ voxels somewhere near the center. As for the question itself, I think you’ve answered yourself: a Game of Life-type setup defined in thre

this doesn’t surprise me at all, and for a very simple reason: this being a zero-sum game, it’s inevitable that consumers lose money on this proposition because otherwise it wouldn’t be profitable for them and they wouldn’t do it.

That’s not much of a leap, though: if you know you were talking to some people, and then audio is leaked, then you can figure out which account did it. I’m not defending (or denouncing, for that matter) this feature, though I have opinions.

Is it a fair comparison? I don’t know, you tell me, on the basis of the actual facts . When the iMac was released without a floppy drive in 1998, it was launched with a CD-ROM (and, only in the DV models, with a DVD-ROM) drive, which meant

I honestly find it hard to believe that people are still bemoaning the ‘loss’ of the headphone jack. I stopped using it well before it was removed, probably sometime while using an iPhone 6 Plus/6S Plus (so 2015-2016). It was an absolu
