CUPS was almost entirely[1] made by Michael R Sweet who left Apple close to a year ago[2] and now works for his own company. Completely understandable to move the upstream repo away from Apple, I don't think there's much else to i

So you would be perfectly fine with Hitler at least being elected then, and anyone who tried to stop him would be a bad person?

Do you really think people at large didn't know about hanging, slavery, human sacrifice, and ideas about a flat earth in societies where these ideas were applicable?

Maybe, but the argument is that mere public existence of an idea effectively promotes correct ideas and demotes incorrect ideas. That is absolutely not in evidence.

Most of those ideas didn't die out because one day people found out about them, and then we put an end to them. Most of them _everyone_ knew about for thousands, or even tens of thousands of years, why didn't this "sunlight&q

How many non-complicit-with-the-government North Koreans do you think have safe, unmonitored access to computers and the internet, and so can safely (or even unsafely) use cryptocoin? If the number is not 0 it is very, very close to 0. We a

This is a bad excuse for the really flakey nature of nfs, other network filesystems do not have its issues.

I don't think having a system sit completely unresponsive to anything for a huge amount of time is exactly optimal either.

Unfortunately enabling swap in linux has a very annoying side effect, linux will preferentially push out pages of running programs that have been untouched for X time for more disk cache, pretty much no matter how much ram you have. This

The fine is 5 billion dollars because Facebook flagrantly violated the 2011 agreement with the FTC, as bad as Equifax is they haven't essentially gone "so what are you gonna do about it" to the regulators.

This is the typical corporate abuse enabling flaw in a lot of libertarian thinking. Withdraw limiting regulations and replace them with market based compeititve mechanisms. Except somehow the second part inevitably seems to get forgotten ab

I think thats pretty unfair when mozilla has been straight up refusing to implement webextension equivilents to XUL based functionality that a lot of addons depend on. Such as the fact there is no way to enumerate what sites have html5 loca

Do you have any evidence this is actually true? XUL is still there, the firefox UI is still written in it and it will be for quite some time to come. I find it hard to beleive disallowing XUL extensions have significantly sped anything up.
