I cant believe they are moving forward with "generics". Programmers on average already tend to make things more complicated than they should be. Now every single module in the ecosystem is gonna use more abstractions, generics to

Something to consider is that, as a survival mechanism, a child copy his parents behaviours. It mimicries his environment in order to survive. We all do a lot similar than our parents and familly. Those habits are also very hard to unlearn.

Well I just tried to use glassdoor to try and grasp how it is to work at apple as a software engineer. Glassdoor is terrible. I think there is a business opportunity here. Make a site just for developers. Hackerdoors or something.

Tiny correction: it's 320x240 also called mode X [0], an undocumented VGA graphical mode discovered by Michael Abrash which made him famous at the time. One of the big advantage of the mode X is that the pixels are square, unlike mode

I told a friend who knew absolutely nothing about computers to go and type format c: on the school only computer and wait for the result. It turned a bit ugly but we're still friend :)

So, reading here what I understand is that startup stocks/options/whatever are worth nothing because this is a private company, an opaque box with many tools to screw you. Anyone with a different experience? If you had a positive

The 10x programmer is a silly myth. The idea that someone can produce in 1 day what another competent, hard working, similarly experienced programmer can produce in 2 weeks is silly. You know, 10x is an optimistic number here. Some progra

I absolutely believe the importance of this specifically because the desktop is failing at that in todays standard. In other words, maybe there is an apple or microsoft to be created around turning android or ios devices into work stations.

Entirely fair question I think. I'd add that execution can easily be the difference. Notably french startups generally have poor execution. For example, the entrepreneur in France generally has to get loan on his own person, indebting

Nowdays, I make the distinction between maintainable programs and hackable ones, the later of course being, imo, way better. What I mean by that is essentially that the ratio # by-design features over simplicity of code of the hackable prog

I once worked on a project at a FAANG where we had to run an app on a 600Mhz CPU with no FPU. Javascript (v8, spidermonkey) wouldn't cut it (for some reasons function calls where very slow amongst other things). While Lua was incredibl
