Drop all outgoing traffic by default in Windows firewall. Allow only apps that you need. No more unwanted updates, no more telemetry. Once in a while you might want to download a fresh .iso from Microsoft that has all the updates integrated

It's all good if you are in a position to say no. Eg. I've seen some housing communities use FB for their mailing lists. I think the best option is to create dummy throwaway accounts if there's something on FB you really need

Actually Windows is almost obsolete these days. Linux dominates the smartphones, servers and the supercomputers. It's the software development model and the ideological underpinnings that made Linux technically superior, so I'd be

The people I know who still use Facebook are doing it less and less. What is holding them back are the friends who are not using any other social media.

It's sad that Samsung cripples their good hardware with crap software. Thankfully many of their phones can run aftermarket operating systems.

You are projecting human morality to natural processes. Viruses and bacteria don't have feelings and the vast majority of the biomass on Earth is not even capable of suffering.

No. It's not okay to make devices obsolete by software. Arguing for the low cost of ownership per day is a strawman.

It depends on what you are producing. Eg. For writing purposes a Chromebook or a pad with Bluetooth keyboard can be quite sufficient.

It's an expression of speech for distaste of the malignant practice of making something redundant even if there was no need to do that; Much like even if a human soul would rather not perish but yet there was a class of malignant disea

The overall quality of the taxi service _will_ go down with the price cuts. There isn't any way around this. It was obvious already when Uber was testing their service in Helsinki without adhering to any of the legal requirements. But

Qubes runs mostly on computers with Intel CPUs. It's good of them to admit that the layers-upon-layers approach just doesn't bring in any additional security if you have buggy/unsecure hardware.

To further my point (in case of additional downvoting): You can get a quality 200W subwoofer for $150. Pair that Mackie or JBL studio monitors for another $150. One homepod costs $349. And you need TWO for stereoscopic sound. Its just anoth

I'm quite sure a standard 2.1 setup will get you better sound than this at a fraction of the price. I also don't want my speaker to "run my smart home" or anything like that.

What about the arrow keys? Home/End? Delete? Backspace? Seems pretty silly to key CTRL-something when there are dedicated buttons for the functions already.

Contrarian anecdote. I've had no issues with Origin. It downloads/updates the games and launches them, and hasn't failed at that yet. I don't much care for any other feature.

I don't follow this at all. Eg. the authentication servers for online play (which I'd argue is the main component of HL/CS/WC3/...) are down. It's impossible to play these games now, so how there could be anyon

This question doesn't make much sense given how these titles have evolved as player-made modifications to the originals (Half-Life, Warcraft 3).

Freelancer was a great game, I really enjoyed playing it. I'm not sure how much Chris Roberts had to do with the final product but I don't think Freelancer was a failure when it was released.

What? Yes, but there is no reason you can't present the percentage after the transaction is complete. Also you don't usually buy beer for 20 million, hence the rates will be in the mentioned ballpark.

If you store your coins in an exchange you don't have control over them. People don't understand this. Edit: And 5-8% transaction rates are absolutely insane for a payment system.
