God this was a breath of fresh air to read. Can we stop pretending hacking is reading plain-text websites and nerding out on them?

It depends, it is more complicated than having it as a metric in your contract and being paid to meet some demand. Generally what happens is you are expected to research outside all the other responsibilities that are not research which con

No one in academia has time except for a few at the top. We're constantly swamped with tasks that aren't research and we're not paid to research. What do people expect?

I personally would love to do away with information based lectures and teach only tutorials in small low ratio settings. Online lecturing let's me do that and saves money (according to admin) and students are happier for it because the

Depends what you can wear and like to wear. The staples are a good pair of raw denim jeans, two pairs of contrasting chino pants and a mixture of tops to layer with these (wool jumper, crew top). Footware is up to you but if you want to be

This is such a breath of fresh air in the tech world. I dream of working for a people over profits org, where value is placed on your compassion and custodianship as a means of getting things done (and enjoying the journey there).

Yes okay, but the magic bullet here isn't the dog its the means to have an animal who gets you out of the house and walking.

by qmmmur 7y ago
This is true, but your experience isn't mutually exclusive with my statement. People who are destitute often don't have the resources to keep a healthy dog. You are, as I imagine (and please correct me if I am wrong) well off and

People who have the means to own and care for a dog will probably have a better diet, less stress, more time to exercise and go to the doctor. I doubt dogs have a magical health aura.
