That's very cool of you, Daniel. While of course I believe my version of events, it is after all just a Hacker News post. Whether or not I can share the eventual outcome of this matter, I do plan to write an article on concrete steps t

Good for you! My Dad did the same (donated kidney to a stranger) about 5 years ago, and still feels very happy with the decision. It was hard for me, because there's a non-zero chance that I'm going to lose a couple of years with

In addition to the visible data (the card number, the expiration, and the CVV), there is other information encoded on the stripe that you cannot see (its called Track 2 data). A swiped transaction will include the Track 2 data, but a keyed

Incidentally, if you're looking for a niche software opportunity, you could do worse than appointment software for dentists. I spent a fair amount of time speaking to dental practice managers about that specific product idea (I was te

"It is the job of a business to make money, the most money possible, at all costs." I hear this a lot, but its not true. Why do you think this is true? I think this belief often come from a misunderstanding of fiduciary duty. For

I first heard of foursquare from Fred Wilson, who described getting a recommendation on a specific dish off the menu via a friend through Foursquare. That was so COOL! Much cooler than "personalized local search". Maybe they could

This is great! Would you prefer to have the domain RubberDuckers.com for this project? My biz partner and I had a similar idea but never launched it! We still have the domain though, and you are welcome to it. I'm so glad that you made

This is misleading - it uses Firebase for the server! How can the OP claim that the server is not storing messages if the OP doesn't control the server? I have no reason to trust that Firebase isn't storing the messages. Why shoul
