Garbage. You've derailed the argument to one about sexuality. This is about professional advancement, not courtship. The author is comparing men's success in impressing an authority figure of an unknown gender against a woman's success in t

Somewhere in this rant is a good point, but the author has piled on so much bullshit its hard to find. For example: "It would be good if more women see interesting opportunities that they might not be qualified for, opportunities which the

That's a good explanation, but its not actually that jQuery automatically binds events to the newly inserted elements, its that it takes advantage of Javascript's event bubbling to match the selector at the highest level it can. Basically,

I'm embarrassed to admit I thought _() was specific to Wordpress. Great to know its not. metaphone() is a great tip too. I've only used soundex() in MySQL, will be interesting to see how they compare.

I used your site many times over the years. Its amazing how much it comes up. I stopped using it when I found out it was tweeting my inputs. I often checked my own sites, and didn't like it broadcasting that the site was down, much less wit

The primary difference (IMHO) is that no one wants to pay overseas contractors anything reasonable, so its a self-fulfilling prophecy. As the submission's title says, "you get what you pay for." In my experience, this is the case no matter

In 2008, TWC spent roughly $1 billion on video content and only $33 million on high-speed data (30x more spent on content). So the infrastructure cost per subscriber to TWC is negligible. Also worth noting, TWC made about $2.7 billion off c

Wrong. Cable companies pay for content, and recoup their money (+profit) through a combination of subscriptions and advertising. The cable gets ~$1200 + advertising revenue per customer per year, and from this pool they can buy content from

The PCWorld article is a bit overblown, but I expect this to be the first signs of an ongoing problem for Google. I know I've personally had a nightmarish time getting in touch with Google support, for both AdSense and App Engine, and I kno

It matters because public property is just that: owned by the people (govt). This includes airwaves, which gives the US govt the right to license it. The airwaves in your home however are not public property. At least that is my understandi
