Aside from this library, I'm not aware of a library like that. While I think the idea has some merit, there's a couple of problems: - Its a lot of Javascript, and that can make things really slow. As another commenter pointed out, the compu

Things I like: - Design looks nice and clean. I'm impressed that you have a photo of downtown Raleigh on my city's section, that's a nice touch. - Posting interface is simple, and I like that its free. - I like the McAfee secure logo. I kno

I don't think that's quite fair. The parent simply offered up a possible explanation for what is by all accounts an irrational fear.

As I understand it, its privacy by obscurity. There's no search, so unless you share the URL or its discovered, it would be private. That may or may not work for you. They have a $3/month plan that gives you flickr like features (large unco

These are good points. Especially, "Typically attribute order is fixed so it becomes natural to know where in a line to look for particular ones." I don't have a strong preference for multi-line or single line, but I do insist on keeping

I've used Raphael and Processing.js, have to say I liked Raphael a lot better. Coding was more intuitive, and the performance seemed a lot better.

Already pinged one of my clients about integrating this into their online store. I think this looks awesome. What I think this will allow us to do: On each product page there will be a Like button (if you're logged into FB), which users wil

The engineer in question is a good friend of several of us here at HN. We sincerely appreciate the support he's being shown here and elsewhere around the internet. So there is no doubt: Gray is one of the smartest engineers I've ever had th

They should be ashamed. This benefits no one. Edit: I'd like to highlight TUAW and Slashgear, who have both shown more class and decency than Gawker and their ilk by choosing not to plaster his name and photos all over their articles. Unfor

FWIW, Gray is a close friend of mine and a wonderful engineer. He's been passionate about Apple since the day I met him, and tirelessly defends the company when I give him a hard time about their policies. I truly hope Apple doesn't fire hi

I know an excellent developer who just took a significant paycut to work on something he's passionate about. I largely agree with you that its still the bottom line that matters, but mindshare is often under-appreciated.

AdSense is much different than AdWords. If you're rejected by AdSense there's no recourse. Anecdotally, my past experience with support for both AdWords and AdSense has been terrible. I'm glad they've got an 800 number now.

"Most are." I think that's the most important point. The six point test is important, but its so vague that it can give people a false sense of safety. From the linked NYT article: "'If you’re a for-profit employer or you want to pursue a

We used to freeze NES cartridges when blowing stopped working. We always chalked its working up to magic/luck, but perhaps there was more to it. Is it just the heat or is there something else at play here?

I've used RepositoryHosting.com for a bit over a year, and its one of the best deals I've ever gotten. We have a repo for each client project, so like the author we require unlimited repositories although our disk space needs are low. We do

I'm not a homeowner, but I believe most mortgages are "frontloaded", at least to some extent, so you're paying off the interest before you pay off the principle. Its not uncommmon to pay ~2x the principal in interest. So I couldn't say for

Avoid 302 redirects, they pass no PageRank. 301's do dampen PageRank as well, though the exact amount is not known. I've always put it around 10-15% (i.e., after each 301 you are left with 85% of the original value). I also suspect that its

Do you dislike long form video in general, or Mixergy specifically? I don't like watching long videos, so I usually read Andrew's transcription instead. I've found some really great advice in there, its worth another look.

There's a bit of a HN discount built-in, at least for me ($100/hr vs. $125 normally). Reason being I'd hope to get a lot clearer specs from folks here, which cuts out a lot of wasted time.

Perhaps nitpicky, but I took issue with this: "No other vendor dominates mobile games like Apple now. With over 50,000 games in the App Store, it has 10 and 20 times what Nintendo and Sony offers respectively, and this before Apple’s Game
